A splash of 1/35 scale colour from AK…with a little MiniArt thrown in too…🤷‍♂️😊

I sometimes wish I knew more modellers on here just so that I could suggest to them that they should probably ignore 99% of any ‘shit sandwiches’ or ‘advice’ that it thrown their way by folks who feel they know better…mostly they don’t 🤷‍♂️😊

All done for now on the AK M1008…I may tinker with it when I have finished the gas cylinder load and its base. I haven’t glued the doors as I may have one open. Maybe some dust in places but I want to build the base first…

OMG….not sure I have ever experienced such a rush of ‘need, need, need’ for a pair of forthcoming kits…but…

A superb book…from landmark industrial disputes to the Sex Pistols and punk rock…oh yes and ladybirds by the million…thoroughly enjoyable and heartily recommended too…

Cab pretty much together now…just the windows, doors and indicators to add…and some wipers 👍😊

This will be a simple story but one that may resemble some sort of 1970s public information film…needless to say the guy smoking will just be a civilian in the 80s/90s perhaps….🤷‍♂️

A quite set of quite insanely small decals applied…given that they will only be visible through the side and rear windows I think they will do their job. So weathering the dashboard and cab innards is mostly done but will have another look tomorrow…

WIP obvs but messing about with some wear on the cab interior now…I don’t think I posted a photo of the chassis earlier so here it is…not too much weathering as it’s mostly hidden anyway…🤷‍♂️👍

I am liking how this looks like it will come together…it’s a smart vehicle & thus far a great kit…just trying out the body on the chassis here as the cab is nowhere near finished yet…a nice AK kit I have to say…

Latest book haul…an eclectic mixture perhaps 🤷‍♂️…no idea but they all look marvellous for very different reasons…

I can’t comment on the details as I’m not gay or old enough to remember but the section in this book about Tom Robinson in 1976 is fascinating…pretty heroic I’d say…🤷‍♂️😊

There’s very little PE in this kit but this is a nice bit I think…simple but effective…🤷‍♂️😊

Going with this paint scheme but probably no military decals (so a civilian ex-military vehicle) simply because the colour contrast with the load I want to use is nice and SMS make exactly the right paint too…🤞😊

Update on the AK M1008 build…fit all good so far, instructions not the best though…🤷‍♂️

I’ve been playing around with pinks to enhance yellows. Two extremes of pink & three yellows. Rose pink works like a dream, fluro pink is too bright & doesn’t. Also seems that the darker the yellow the less the effect maybe but either way rose pink definitely helps with yellows…

Fed up with dust on my builds at every stage I now have one of these to try…if it helps even perhaps 20% of the time I’ll be happy…will report back in a few weeks 🤷‍♂️😊🥃

Matte varnish added and valves painted. May add weathering when I use some of them as a colourful load in this…

Nearly there with this lot now…the yellow ones need a dose of XF-3 over the SMS yellow to hopefully help them on their way and a few of the others need a little sand/respray…using inverted masking tape to hold little bits like these in place whilst spraying paint is really helpful…👍

I think I now have all the bits, bobs and books needed for my Christmas build…until I find something else to add perhaps…🤔

Colour on gas cylinders & sanded much of it off along the seams. SMS yellow is OK but I have found it better to use it as a ‘primer’ for XF-3 in the past so will go with that here. I’ve used ‘proper’ pink primer for yellow before & have ordered some SMS pinks to try as possible ‘primers’ for yellow…

An interesting ‘thing’ that came up on X after I asked about an STL file for this 3D print. After my post @orbness.bsky.social tracked down the photo that the 3D print is based on…which I thought was very cool…irrespective of the quality of the print itself it shows where we may be headed perhap…🤷‍♂️🤔

Is this a reasonable question to ask scale modellers…after building about 90 kits in the last 4 years I have less interest in building most kits as they come (there are exceptions…see example photos). I feel the need to ‘interfere’ more perhaps…meaning everything takes longer…ffs…is this normal?
