OK you can now build your own lists of Oscars picks without signing up. If you do want to start/join a pool you can sign up and your lists will carry over.

a little early. Every year a build an Oscar pool website for friends/family as an excuse to speed-run new tech/patterns. Still working on it, but foundations are there and you can start making picks before joining a pool.

So this looks like the same experience I've been sharing recently, but it's running against an actual local server instead of service worker. It's basically the same server with adapters do db (indexdb vs sqlite).

There's a lot of premature optimization out there, but a little advice… don't skip the NAT Gateway if you have people white listing your IP address.

I used to not understand why grownups had so many pillows on the bed. Nearing 40 I now realize: 1. between the knees 2. behind lower back 3. Support the neck support 4. The neck support 5. For kid when they come in during night 6. Block kid from rolling off bed Not including partners pillows.

If your software runs on my device, you don’t get to treat my resources as free. That’s mine. You’re spending my CPU, battery, memory, and data plan. That’s my time and money. Respect your users. Burning server cycles isn't the same; the ethical bar for the client is higher.

I set it up so I can deploy our docker swarm stack locally. I don't need it often, but when I do it's so handy to have the production stack readily available for quick iteration on infra changes.

A use case I really appreciate for AIs is prototyping and building learning material that would otherwise take too long to justify in a typical capitalistic work environment.

You have to assume all context you give an AI company is being sold to brokers. Your personal finance data. Every medical question you ask. Your notes. Now how will all of that be used by corporations and government subjugating you? Hopefully this year we got more practical local options.

As much as I like local-first I think browsers are not the best place to build your local-first apps. Lots of ice skating up hill vs shipping a native app that can readily access the file system and avoid any browser limitations.
