The 49ers promoted DL Robert Beal Jr. to the active roster from the team’s practice squad. They signed DL William Bradley-King and S Jaylen Mahoney and to the practice squad and released DB Derrick Canteen from the practice squad.

But it is not all bad for the 49ers' pass defense. They are very good in other areas. They are third-best in the league, allowing just 5.6 yards per pass attempt, and their 486 passing yards allowed in three games is No. 5 in the NFL.

The last time a current member of the 49ers intercepted a pass was Week 8 of last season when both Ji'Ayir Brown and Deommodore Lenoir came up with picks against Dallas' Dak Prescott in a 30-24 victory.

The Jaguars have seven interceptions in three games this season. The 49ers have gone 10+ games (303 pass attempts) without a pick. Their last interception came from Isaac Yiadom in Week 11 of last season against the Seahawks.

QB Brock Purdy was back at 49ers practice today. He was limited Wed and Thurs. Coach Kyle Shanahan will reveal injury report when he meets with the media in the next 15 minutes or so.

Practice-squad QB Adrian Martinez was the backup to Mac Jones in Week 2. He had an important responsibility in helping the 49ers' defense prepare for the Cardinals. He was the team's offensive scout team player of the week for playing the role of Kyler Murray in practices.

It looks as if FB Kyle Juszczyk and DB Siran Neal have received full clearance out of the concussion protocol. Neither was wearing the blue no-contact jersey, which signifies they have reached the fifth and final stage of the NFL's return-to-play process.

The 49ers announced the passing of former linebacker Jim Fahnhorst, a three-time Super Bowl champion. He died Wednesday at the age of 66. His brother, Keith, an offensive tackle, was a two-time SB champ with the 49ers who passed away in 2018, also at 66.

It is possible that Brock Purdy could serve as the No. 2 quarterback in this game, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said.
