Birthday night Meal in the Bridgend Hotel, Food was exceptional. Had Pan Fried Islay Scallops followed by Pan Fried Duck Breast. Finished off with a Laddie 18. Also bumped into an old #Whisky Friend, Allan Logan, I'm saying old he was just a bairn when we first met at #Bruichladdich Distillery!

Another mixed day weather wise, went to The Port Charlotte Hotel for lunch. Headed off to Islay Studios to see Mark and Helga before they retire properly in a couple of weeks, Then once again at Loch Indaal we spotted a White Tailed Eagle only this time there were two! Hand held at full 600mm zoom.

Good end to the 1st week on Islay... Encountered an Eagle, had meal at Islay Oysters (Mmm deep fried Oysters !) at Loch Gruinart , bought a bottle of whisky and a walk on a deserted Beach ! just a dram fest to come....

While heading out to Islay Oysters, turned the corner at the head of Loch Indaal and there was a Flying Barn Door! Not very good light, Hand held at 600mm, needed some adjustment on laptop. seems like a (Very) juvenile White Tailed Eagle given it's scruffy feathering but it was one monster Mutha !

Next up another Beg Sample, Homecoming can't find out much about this apart from it's a Distillery Exclusive , it's from Rum Casks, 56.1% and NAS AFAIK ! Again Young on the nose , no distinct rum notes, No distinct Beg notes, if this was blind I wouldn't say Ardbeg.... 1/3 1/3 #ardbeg #whisky

Tonights first dram, a Sample from Beg , Eureka! A bottling to celebrate 25 years of the committee, at 52.2% and from PX Casks, NAS , Smells very young at first, A bit of sherry and smoke , very little of the Coffee/Chocolate/vanilla/dried Fruits etc I'd expect... 1/3 #Ardbeg #whisky
