A really excellent reason to transition to regenerative agriculture/agroecology. Much more resilient! It will take effort, creativity, and work but the outcomes are so much better than not doing it. Worth it on every level! All indicators point to backing away from fossil fuels.

This trend will only continue -renewable energy gets cheaper, fossil fuels gets more expensive. The technology continues to improve and there is a lot more upside potential to it. Combine with walkable neighborhoods/cities for maximum quality of life improvements.

While I haven't read the study, burning wood should not be considered a "renewable" energy, imo. The only way it should be burned is gasification/biochar production with biochar used to capture carbon long term. Even then, the design needs to be net benefit on multiple fronts, including ecosystems.

In Central America, fast growing high protein trees like Gliricidea are used for living fence posts, and trimmed (pollarded) yearly to feed animals enclosed by the fences. Fence posts are created by sticking branches in the ground that root. Fodder trees can also create shelter belts, hedges, etc.

Stuff gets more and more interesting. I just add some biochar from my firepit to my garden (super sandy soil) after charging it with manure, pee or other organic NPK source. A few more years will tell the tale.

Just attended two great conferences focused on regenerative solutions: Organic Growers School in Western N Carolina (what a great organization), and VoLo's Climate Correction conference - so encouraging to see so many exceptional people working on real solutions to real problems.

Not Just Bikes is one of the best channels out there for underreported but vital info. How can we make sustainable or regenerative choices if we don't understand the actual cost of our decisions?

A good thing, & there are over looked additional yields, shade being one, heat another. Raised high enough for grazing &/or horticulture, they reduce evaporation & incr H2O infiltration. Earthworks needed in sloped areas. Tapping the heat is doable but more technical. Hot planets need shade.

There is still a lot of potential for even lower prices and cleaner materials in future.

One of the biggest joys have had while farming is rewinding and offering more wildlife habitat. Being surrounded by butterflies, birdsong, bees and bunnies while gardening just adds to the pleasure of it and enhances whole body/mind and spirit health.
