Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Pete Smith. He played for ATL from ‘87-‘93. PHIL traded Smith & Ozzie Virgil to ATL for Steve Bedrosian & Milt Thompson. He made his major league debut on 9/8/87 with ATL at age 21. In ‘88, he pitched 3 shutouts, the season after his rookie year.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Wade Blasingame. He played for MIL/ATL from ‘63-‘67. In ‘65 he played in 38 games, including 36 starts. He won 16 games, had 10 complete games & 117 strikeouts & was the top-fielding pitcher in the NL, handling 62 chances without an error.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Dick Kelly. He played for MIL/ATL from ‘64-‘68. He pitched in 188 Major League games between 1964-1969 and in 1971, 61 as a starter. He played for SD in ‘69 & ‘71.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is World Series Champion (with an asterisk) Evan Gattis. He played for ATL from ‘13-‘14. He was the 1st rookie to win consecutive ROM awards since Heyward in ‘10. He was the 1st Braves catcher to hit 20 or more HR’s in his rookie & sophomore seasons.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Sean Kazmar Jr. He spent most of his time with Gwinnett but came up for a few games in ‘21 with ATL. I got to see him today & speak to him. He was very nice & acknowledged & spoke back to me, the only Braves fan sitting behind the @angels.com dugout!

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Joe Boever. He played for ATL from ‘87-‘90. A career reliever, he was most notable for throwing a palmball pitch. Nicknamed "Boever The Saver", he was a closer for the ‘89 Braves, collecting 21 saves. He also played for STL, PHI, HOU, OAK, DET & PIT

Made it to the airport & proceeded to fail the identification photo twice, failed the scanner (they said it was my zippers) & was molested by some old dude on the pat down. What a start to the trip. I’m so glad I fit the terrorist profile. On a positive note, one step closer to baseball!

My wife & I got this awesome/super RAK for the card club yesterday from @bobbothe37.bsky.social & his family. His daughter came up with the design in the school colors. His sister & mom created the caps. Bob was the man with the cash that funded it. The kids are going to love it! Thank you so much!

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is World Series Champ Brad Clontz. He played for ATL from ‘95-‘97. He was known for his distinctive sidearm windup & delivery. He also played for the LAD, NYM & PIT. He’s currently VP of customer development at Baha Mar Casino in Nassau, Bahamas.

I woke up 4 hours early this morning because my mind is racing. I’m headed down to Pheonix for a week to watch my former Idaho Falls Chukars host player get his shot in the Angels organization. I’m looking forward to seeing Nico & a few other former/current Idaho Falls Chukars down there!

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Luis Gomez. He played for ATL from ‘80-‘81. Luis set an Atlanta record in 1980 with a .968 fielding percentage at shortstop and strung together 42 consecutive errorless games. He was the first Mexican native selected in the MLB amateur draft.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Tom House, Rick Kester & Jimmy Britton. House played for ATL ‘71-‘75. He’s been called the "father of modern pitching mechanics” & "professor of throwing." He was 1 of the 1st to blend scientific based pitching study into methodologies for pitchers.

I absolutely laughed out loud when I saw this parody article (of course it is fake). The WBC doesn’t have teams with billionaire owners, seemingly unlimited payrolls, & deferred salaries. I love it. I love MLB too but there’s things that need to be addressed to improve the league.

Got a package in the mail from Kendall Graveman today for the card club/my wife’s classroom. Super cool! Thank you Kendall! If anyone else knows other athletes that do similar things, please shoot me a dm!

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is 2x All-Star, World Series Champ, ‘72 NL saves leader, Reds Hall of Fame, & Bama Sports HOF Clay Carroll. He played for MIL/ATL ‘64-‘68. He was nicknamed Hawk due to his profile likeness of the bird.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Lee Maye. He played for MIL from ‘59-‘65. He also played for HOU, CLE, WASH and CHW. He was also well known as a rhythm & blues singer. He was the lead singer of the Los Angeles–based doo-wop group Arthur Lee Maye and the Crowns in the 1950s.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Jim Vatcher. He played for ATL in ‘90. He was sent along with Jeff Parrett to ATL, as the player to be named later, in the trade that sent my childhood baseball hero, Dale Murphy to the Phillies. He played for the Phillies and Padres too.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Cliff Speck. He played for ATL in ‘86. A highlight of his minor league career included pitching in the longest game in the history of professional baseball, a 33 inning affair between Speck's Rochester Red Wings and the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Craig McMurtry. He played for ATL from ‘83-‘86. In ‘83 he finished 2nd in voting for NL ROY. On 7/4/86 he gave up Barry Bonds's 1st career HR. Looking back he said "It was a fastball, down & away. He took it the other way. I don't know how he hit it.”

I forgot to take a picture of the board today, but the Pack Rippers learned new vocabulary words, opened TTM’s, played games, traded cards, learned what RAK meant, had four RAK recipients in recognition of their kindness to others & opened a package from the @ny-yankees.bsky.social! It was awesome!

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is All Star Paul Casanova. He played for ATL from ‘72 to ‘74. He caught Phil Niekro's no-hitter on 8/5/73. After baseball, he created a baseball academy at his home in FL. It also became a gathering place for his former teammates & fellow Cuban players

My wife text me that her school gives out kindness awards weekly. 4 of the boys out of the card club were nominated. They were seen sharing cards with kids not in the card club that had been having hard days. THIS is what it’s about. Kindness breeding kindness. #thehobby #RAK

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Ruben Quevedo. He was signed as an international free agent by the Atlanta Braves in 1995 & made it up to AAA before being traded to the Cubs. He played for CHC & MIL in the bigs. He was a Triple–A All-Star in 2001 while pitching for the Iowa Cubs.

Today’s #BravesCardoftheDay is Hal King. He played for ATL from ‘70-‘71. His best season in MLB was with the 1970 Braves. Appearing in 89 games, he had a .260 batting ave, 11 HR and 30 RBI. After two seasons with the Braves, he was sent to the Texas Rangers for Paul Casanova.
