Last week, NCSP at UCSF teamed up with Literacy for Environmental Justice (LEJ) at their Native Plant Nursery, located in SF's Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood. Thank you, LEJ, for having us!🌱 We ended the day with great company and good vibes at our Spring Scholar Social.

Dr. Alicia Fernandez delivered the 27th Annual Reza Gandjei Lecture! ARC Core Faculty and Executive Committee member Alicia Fernandez, MD, discussed social drivers of health screening, as well as strategies for reducing health disparities, including via systems-level & community-based approaches.

Last week, we had the privilege of joining an immersive neighborhood tour of Bayview Hunters Point led by Joi Jackson-Morgan, MPH & 3rd Street Youth Center and Clinic. Hearing directly from our community partners was a reminder of the power of listening & community-driven leadership.

Congrats to Edna Esquer, PhD, FNP-BC, on her recent publication in the Open Journal of Nursing! Her work emphasizes the need for early recognition and intervention to address psychosocial stressors among women living in rural communities along the US-Mexico border.🥳⭐

New Insights into the challenges faced by patients with a non-English language preference during video visits in healthcare. This study, with IHPS faculty member Alicia Fernandez, MD, as senior author, highlights the barriers and solutions needed for equitable care.

NCSP @ UCSF alum & current Associate Program Director, Jose Gutierrez, PhD, FNP-BC, AAHIVS, and colleagues met with DC policymakers as part of the UCSF Science and Healthcare Advocates for Research Policy (SHARP) Program to advocate for NIH funding and federal research support.👏
