I’m not a big re-reader, but I read this book when it was first published in 2004 and it always remained with me so I took it on holiday with me 22 years later. Honestly, I think it’s one of the top 5 novels of the 21st century so far.

After a long day, John arrived at the offices of his French publisher, JC Lattès, for a champagne reception to celebrate him winning the Prix Femina Étranger for LES ÉLÉMENTS. -DK

In Paris today, John won the Prix Femina Étranger for LES ÉLÉMENTS (JC Lattès), his second major literary award of the Autumn in France, following the Prix du Roman FNAC. The Prix Femina was established in 1904 and is awarded by an exclusively female jury. -DK
