As a thriller played out in Detroit, we had one in Tallmadge as well. The Blue Devils overcame a heartbreaking second set, in which a 16-10 lead got away, to wage their own massive comeback. Sophomore Eva Arnold was downright special with a whopping 23 kills, including eight in the fourth set!

How could you not like Slade Cecconi - not just for the way he pitched but that postgame interview. Immediately heaping praise on Brayan Rocchio and Daniel Schneeman for the plays they made behind him. Seems like a great guy - very easy to pull for! #ForTheLand #Guardians

Definitely in the running for the worst day of the season. Blowing the lead against the 6-7-8 of the Rockies is just horrendous. Your closer gets suspended for gambling and in his wake your next three relievers implode. Cool.

I really like Tanner - I think he has nasty offspeed stuff that will play - but he just isn't an ace right now. He can't finish batters in two-strike counts, isn't competitive enough with his waste pitches and keeps imploding midway through the game. Hope the ASG is a reset for him...

Gavin Williams just can't consistently finish off hitters at this point in his career despite having remarkable stuff. A lot of his tease pitches are just too far off to get MLB hitters to chase. Super talented guy who has made real progress. But he has a ways to go. #ForTheLand

Alright, here goes, my thoughts on the most disappointing postseason performance I can recall since moving to Cleveland at the start of 2014.

Probably the most embarrassing postseason performance in my decade-plus in CLE. When Soto is blasting a homer against the Guardians, it hurts but they were a scrappy underdog that gave it their all. The fact that the Cavs can't compete with their equals in the postseason is incredibly alarming.

Maybe it's just the modem NBA but the Cavs' insistence on guard iso with a screen or two every single clutch offensive possession frustrates me immensely. There's no LeBron to run this iso. Mitchell is amazing but the ball just sticks in a guard's hands every time it gets tight.

The Cavs just look done. Totally done and spent. Every shot is short. It's mystifying and disturbing as you look toward the future.

Final: Guardians 2, Brewers 0 Allen goes six scoreless with six strikeouts. Ramírez went deep and scored the second run on Manzardo's triple. Clase picks up his ninth save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

The last time the #Guardians had back to back shutouts? May 12 and 13 of 2024.
