Honestly, AI depresses me. I kinda feel like the genie's out of the bottle though. My hope is that a big independent creative backlash will occur, where humans push harder against the boundaries of narrative, genre, and convention to build stuff AI simply can't train on (or refuses to make).

My shmup skills have declined as I've gotten older, but I study them meticulously. I love the precise mechanics. My ethos in making Visegunne is to just make sure shooting down enemies -feels- fun. Modern shmups rely on super clever scoring systems, but early STGs embraced this kind of simplicity.

So I put this throwaway joke in #Visegunne that when you go to a shop and buy a weapon it comes with a driver install disc for your mech's combat computer. And that's canonically why stolen/unupgraded guns have lesser performance. Tactical device driver action. #pixelart #indiedev #gamedev
