Two important wins today: the two-child benefit cap will be scrapped, and British horseracing gets the support it needs — a real boost for Newbury. Still lots more to fight for, but this is progress for families and our local economy.

Today is Budget Day. The Lib Dems are calling for an emergency plan to help households & high streets now, tackle the cost-of-living crisis, & get our economy growing again over the next 18 months. I want the UK to succeed, that starts with supporting people & communities.

I’m in Trafalgar Square with farmers ahead of the Budget announcement, talking about the rural economy and inheritance tax. These issues matter hugely to Newbury and West Berkshire, and I’ll keep making sure our rural communities are heard.
