A passing thought is ephemeral. It arises, it fades, it might come back, it might not. But the moment you write that thought down, something shifts. It gains weight. It becomes a thing that exists outside your skull, a thing that can be returned to, shared, built upon, argued with.

The day after tomorrow will be the 20th #1984Symposium. It will be a long sweaty drive for me with no air-conditioning. But it’s always worth it. I do hope you can make it and I look forward to seeing you 11 am, in the graveyard of Saints Church, Sutton Courtenay.

Your shadow isn't the problem. The problem is pretending it isn't there. We build a public face while everything we've disowned continues to run the show from behind the curtain. Integration doesn't mean acting on every impulse. It means acknowledging what's actually present.
