Heartbroken to learn a friend’s R21 was cancelled. She is studying LGBTQ health in South Carolina. Sadly she is not the only one getting news like this.

What a loss. This is was the best way to check in (nationally) with pregnant women about pregnancy outcomes, access to prenatal care and health insurance, family planning, physical abuse, breastfeeding and infant care. If we aren’t measuring, we can’t improve care or outcomes

Yes, Medicaid is a health program. But it’s also a major economic driver. Cuts to Medicaid funding will lead to not only poor health but also job losses. Doctors and nurses of course, but also pharmacy, laboratory, dietary, environmental services, purchasing and administration.

Statewide maternal mortality review committees often do not review deaths in pregnancy from homicide, suicide and other accidental trauma (pregnancy associated deaths). These tragedies are under-studied and often not included in prevention efforts.
