Going green tonight at City Hall discussing the Belfast Net Zero Neighbourhood Framework. One of only 11 European cities taking part in the pilot & delighted it has been agreed tonight. It sets out clearly how we move towards net zero through active travel, greening and retrofit.

Delighted to agree Belfast council will provide funding on a cross departmental and cross council approach for night buses to start as soon as Nov 2025. Will support: - Our nighttime economy. - Public safety. - Environmental sustainability. One of our 100 goals for the term.

Busy night at full council this month. Pleased to see my proposal for an enhanced Sunday trading scheme in 2026 passed. Plus secured funding for improved cleansing services (for the city centre and arterial routes) and funding to tackle racism.

Maybe not on the scale of past years but really happy to see Culture night coming back.

Very sad to hear of Michael Longley’s passing. We are blessed with many great poets in Ireland and he is one of the greatest. I managed to meet him just the once and he came across very warm and friendly. Many great poems but I feel this one has been with me my whole adult life.

I will be cycling to this vigil with the group to remember Gary, who just wanted to get to work safely. This happened on the route I cycle to work on. It’s chilling and it’s not acceptable that cyclists have to put themselves in this much danger to get to the city centre.

Such a tragic loss of life. My thoughts go out to the family, friends and loved ones who have needlessly lost someone. This is my cycling route to work and it’s a dangerous stretch. It angers me that we’ve no safe cycling connections from North Belfast to the city centre. This becomes inevitable.

Not sure how this gets just 3 stars. A lot to cram into an opening episode but lots of potential, some great performances and the finale had me excited for next week.

I’ve shifted across. Better late than never. Probably gone from the other place for good. Been there since 2010 but gradually posted less and less as it became more tedious and aggressive. I’ll give this one a go and see if I can do better. See if the site can do better too!
