On this day in 1930, a Guernsey cow, Elm Farm Ollie, became the first cow to fly in an airplane, traveling from Bismarck, Missouri, to the International Aircraft Exposition in St. Louis. During the flight, she was milked, and the milk was sealed in paper cartons and parachuted to spectators below.
