Tibetan Democracy in Exile at a Defining Moment: Mandate, Responsibility, and Renewal
Tsering Passang | Tibet Post International On 1 February 2026, I cast my vote in London to elect the Sikyong and Chithues of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), our government-in-exile based in India. It was a simple act on the surface – marking a ballot, folding the paper, placing it in a box – yet one filled with history, sacrifice, and responsibility.

Revisiting Tibet’s Status Before Communist China’s 1950 Invasion Tsering Passang | 12 February 2026 Long before the People’s Republic of China (PRC) asserted control over Tibet, the Tibetan people exercised self-rule and formally affirmed their independence. On 13 February 1913, following the collapse of the Manchu (Qing) Empire and the expulsion of remaining Chinese forces from Tibet, the Great 13th Dalai Lama issued a historic proclamation.

Truth, Transparency, and the Anatomy of a Smear: Setting the Record Straight on His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the “Epstein Files”
11 February 2026 | Tsering Passang In an era defined by information abundance – and distortion – clarity is both a moral necessity and a civic responsibility. Recent attempts to associate His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with Jeffrey Epstein represent not journalism, not inquiry, but the calculated manufacture of doubt. Democracy in Exile: Voting for Tibet’s Future
Tsering Passang | 1st February 2026 Today, I cast my vote in London to elect the Sikyong and Chithues of Tibet’s government-in-exile — the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) based in India. It was a simple act on the surface, yet one filled with deep meaning, history, and responsibility. Every five years, Tibetans living in exile across some 27 countries participate in a democratic process to choose our political leadership.

GATPM Urges UK to Confront Beijing as Hong Kong Democrats Remain Jailed
GATPM, London | 22 January 2026 (Image: The Collective HK) The Global Alliance for Tibet & Persecuted Minorities (GATPM) unequivocally condemns today’s decision at the West Kowloon Courts, which once again lays bare the systematic destruction of Hong Kong’s freedoms under the National Security Law. As posted on a social platform by veteran Hong Kong democrat Emily Lau, pro-democracy leaders Lee Cheuk-yan and Wu Hing-yun have now been imprisoned for 1,590 days, while Albert Ho has been incarcerated for 1,380 days.

Choosing Leaders for a Narrowing Window: A Call to the Tibetan Electorate
Tsering Passang (First published in Tibet Times on 6th January 2026) For nearly seven decades since coming into exile in 1959, the Tibetan freedom movement has endured through moral clarity, resilience, and an unshakeable commitment to nonviolence. These values remain our compass. They earned global recognition most notably in 1989, when His Holiness the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, bringing Tibet briefly back into the conscience of the international community as a symbol of peaceful resistance.

Tibet at the Crossroads of a Changing World
(First published in Tibetan Review on 31 December 2025) As 2026 approaches, Tsering Passang* argues why resolving the China–Tibet conflict before it is too late serves global peace, regional stability, and justice, and sees a role for India, amid a weakening of Western support for Tibet and what he sees as a rising China’s dangerous miscalculation that time and demographics will dissolve the Tibetan question.

Remembering Riga Wangyal (1946–2025): A Life of Compassion, Service, and Quiet Strength
By Tsering Passang Remembering Riga Wangyal On Sunday, 28 December 2025, I joined more than one hundred members of the Tibetan Community in Britain, along with Riga Wangyal’s family, friends, and well-wishers, at the Rigpa Buddhist Meditation Centre in north London to attend a memorial service held in her loving memory. As a former colleague and long-time admirer of Riga’s work and character, it was deeply moving to witness the breadth of community she touched through decades of service, friendship, and quiet leadership.

When Advocacy Slips into Inaccuracy: A Call for Reflection and Correction
Tsering Passang | 26 December 2025 In this article, Tsering Passang critically examines how historically inaccurate public statements by an elected Tibetan leader risk weakening the credibility, coherence, and moral authority of the Tibetan cause, underscoring the responsibility of leadership to uphold historical accuracy. Tenzin Phuntsok Doring’s recent viral video — reportedly viewed by over one million people — has attracted significant attention across Tibetan and international communities.

What begins as a playful marketing stunt becomes, in this reflection, a doorway to a far more urgent story – the story of a people, a culture, and a homeland whose truths still struggle to be seen, told, and heard on the world stage.

The Global Alliance for Tibet & Persecuted Minorities (GATPM) is delighted to join this vital coalition once again and calls on every concerned individual, community, and ally to stand in solidarity. Your presence on 15 November 2025 is essential. [Book Review] Illuminating Injustice: A Powerful Call to Action Through “The Message”
Tsering Passang The Message, a profoundly moving and visually arresting cartoon-story book crafted by Voice of the Disappeared, stands as a powerful testament to the unyielding spirit of Tibetans living under the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) oppressive occupation since 1950. This concise yet deeply affecting work uses vivid illustrations and minimal text to weave a narrative that resonates with readers as young as 8, as well as adults.

“Chinese embassies are like a watchdog and serve as a base to control so-called minorities like Tibetans, Uyghurs, Hong Kongers and also to human rights defenders and other Chinese dissidents,” said Tsering Passang, founder and chair of GATPM.

The vibe at Royal Mint protest, & obvious anger of some of the younger Hong Kong protesters was quite striking ... They know that if the China Empire bullies the UK government on this, they will build their CCP Death Star over Alderan to fight the Rebel Alliance instilling fear in the diaspora ...
