Last night's games. A first play of Age of Rail South Africa, which I loved, where you're buying shares in growing railroad companies, and the little brain burner Paris la Cité de la Lumière

Airecon in Harrogate this weekend, always one of the absolute highlights of the year. Crokinole, Atiwa, Sky Team, Whitehall Mystery among some of my favourites we played this year

Had a nice Sunday afternoon game of Cascadia yesterday with my daughter. Each turn you're adding a land tile and animal token to your map, trying to make big areas of the same landscapes while also scoring the different criteria for the animals

"The 15-man khashoggi hit squad were flown to Turkey and back in a private plane, by the way later used by Newcastle United for warm weather training trips" If Romano usually charges β¬1k per social media post, wonder what he got for his Saudi PR

"HERE WE GO!": the lowdown on "football journalist" Fabrizio Romano
The Italian "influencer" who has never worked as a real journalist, has 100m+ followers on social media and leverages them for cash. This is a tale about modern sports media

First play of Magical Athlete and it was very funny. Like mario kart fuelled by dice. A quick and daft family game that just works. Would be brilliant with young kids

This was a really good read. True crime like a page-turning novel about a serial killer in gloomy post-war London: bombed-out buildings and backstreet pubs, boarding houses and all-night cafes, horrendous misogyny and racism. Tells the women's stories and how they ended up there. Recommended.

"Bad taste or a new way to educate?" BBC article about a new board game about the Troubles. Raises the debate about should some topics be off limits? Or is it how you do it that matters? Do the same rules apply for games as for films and other art?
