When we were kids and had to write about an imaginary future, there were always flying cars and personal jetpacks. It's 8:15 on a rainy evening, and I just checked out a library book while sitting on my bed. We didn't see that coming.

In my work as a pastry chef, I worked in kitchens with people who were not in the US legally. I see them as brave. It would be really hard to move to a country where you don't speak the language or share the culture, and then game a system simply so you can work and pay bills.
