Today we recycled the two millionth pound of cardboard from campus this year! That is enough to fill 48 semi trucks, all of which went to Michigan companies to be recycled into new material!

The plop has begun! We will accept pumpkins to be composted at our drop-off center now through November 15. 🎃

Special thanks to the recycling crew from yesterday’s game! Staff began showing up at 5am to get campus ready for the 7:30pm kickoff, and were back to work at 6am today to continue the post game clean up!

The shade cloth is off! Keeping our worms comfortable all year round requires constant monitoring by our staff. Removing the shade cloth will allow for more sunlight to enter and keep the worms cozy as temperatures drop.

Last school year, nearly half of all waste on campus was recycled, composted, or sent to @msusurplus.bsky.social!

Practice has started for MSU Football, which means it is time to break out the Spartan Stadium recycling bins and get them washed & relabled for another season!

Last month, we sent one of our staff members to ReFed's 2025 Food Waste Solutions Summit hosted in Seattle! It was great to hear what others are doing to reduce the amount of food waste going to the landfill and how we can apply that to campus. We even found worm graffiti!

The @msusurplus.bsky.social Store is having a sale on microscopes, so we decided to take a closer look at some commonly recycled items!

We love seeing recycling access grow! Congrats to Lansing on opening a drop off center at 601 E South St!

Our upcycle staff had a blast at ScrapFest! Attendees who stopped by our booth had the opportunity to make a pouch from discarded bike tires or help with a collaborative weaving project!
