Ugh what a technologically harrowing 8 hours it’s been.

Alas, I fucked it. I went back in today to replace one of the definitely missing screws. (As I'd had a few "temperature warning" errors since the surgery..... the phone definitely wasn't too hot, so *something* was awry.)

Red Dwarf early series were *well weird* for having this bizarre, heavy, looming opening theme music, preceding the space comedy. And then the jaunty, weirdly-lyricèd 60s/70s space pop as the closing theme. One of the many remarkable things about the series as a whole.

After literally five hours of tense open-heart surgery (conducted by me, a mere mortal), I am pleased to report that my iPhone 11 has come out of anaesthesia and is doing well. New battery seems to function and the lightning socket seems to be lightninging again. Phew.

Here's my big takeaway from all this. Since 2016 the Tories have pursued exactly the same things Reform is offering now — isolation, recrimination, division, and blind faith that finding the *right* charismatic bullshitter will fix the country. The Tories lost their deposit. It doesn't work.

Nobody here needs to be told that Reform's claims of cheating are utterly absurd but it's worth noting that the anti-Reform vote was so large that even if the Greens and Labour had split it 50/50 Reform would still have lost — in fact they would have come third. They only value democracy if they win
