Chicago. Today is Studs Terkel’s birthday. I took this photo at his home in '07, about a year before he passed at 96. I was there for 30min, and he was overly kind + welcoming. At that age in this town, I felt like I was supposed to gather his words like chunks of honeycomb from a special hive.

Reef Knot. You’re going to want a few of these puppies in an ice-filled cooler. Head out to your favorite nook along the 1,640 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. Plunge your hand in and pull out a sky-blue can. Koozy. Crack it open to hear the refreshment and take your gulp. That’s Summer Lager.
