This is a portrait of Elisabeth with her daughter, Julie. Her husband was a bit of a gambler, and had to use a lot of her money to keep them out of debt. When she fled France, she and Julie left Le Brun behind and traveled around Europe, but would eventually come back to #France

Who recognizes this woman? If you guessed Marie Antoinette, you would be correct! Le Brun became friends with Marie and was her chosen painter. Because of her relationship, Elisabeth had to flee France during the Revolution. #romanticism #LeBrun #MarieAntoinette #France
