I used to love living near the sea, up until yesterday when a seagull took a colossal (and I mean colossal) shit on me as I was getting into the car to go have a nice restaurant dinner.

Years ago I was playing through a massive collection of old games of wildly varying quality from a CD called Over 1000 Games for Windows. Just last week one of the developers of said games emailed me and it prompted me to write a blog post about that experience.

Well, actually it was only 748, but that's still a lot. Back when I was a wee lad with a gimped home computer and a different definition of "fun", I owned this CD that was stocked in bargain bins acro...

I really loved Judero and now the same devs are crowdfunding their next game. If this is going to be like being inside a Dario Argento movie, I'm in.

Watched Avatar. Half way through I realised that Jimmy's pulled a fast one on us and he's actually just made the second movie again. Looks cool though, once you get past the sensation that you're watching a game cutscene.

2025 was the year I learned how to properly tie shoelaces (at age 30). What ability will I unlock in 2026? Finally find a way to memorise how many days are in each month? Be able to wash the dishes without getting my shirt wet? Find a hat that really suits me?

I picked up Astro Bot recently and I'm close to 100 percenting it, which I almost never do. It's just so great. I know it won goty last year but I think it should also win again this year.

I can't play any new games from the NextFest when I'm still catching up with my backlog of every game ever made chronologically. I'm up to this little underground game called FFIX for PS1. How come no one told me this was so dang charming?

Every time there's a new Godot release I think that's cool, but I don't need to upgrade - I've got everything I could need. Then I look through the new features and very quickly think ooh yes I could use that. It's a dangerous game.

What's a point & click game without cursors for pointing and clicking? Figured these should be pre-rendered sprites to fit with the crunchy 90s aesthetic - what do you think?

748: "Volutare 3D" - Bela Von Hoffman I've got an important update. The game? It's about flipping cubes, it's not good, who cares. All this time I've been saying I was reviewing 775 games, but somehow I miscalculated and there's only 748. This is how it ends.

747: "Stellar Explorer" - TCI Corporation I've played so many of these 90s spaceship OS simulators now, and they're almost all the same. The difference with this one is they take away weapons in the shareware version so it's unwinnable.

746: "TC Space Fighter" - Anthony Carin I'll never know what this is because opening it immediately locks up the system. Another thumbnail-sized game, I'm sure it was great.

745: "Sky Maze" - AxySoft Play as a little yellow guy collecting all the little yellow bits on a level and avoid the various bad guys running aimlessly around. There are powerups that let you kill the baddies for a short time. So it's Russian 3D Pac-Man.

744: "Shuffle Board 3D" - Walter A. Kuhn Never tried shuffle board in real life, but I'm not good at this at all. Is it normal rules that if your puck is in a scoring zone but has one pixel over the boundary, it's worth 0 points??

743: "Pong 3D" - Jesse Johnson Yep it's pong. You could argue it's 3D. Love the MS Paint art. The computer isn't very good at its own game, but I still think it's pretty fun.

742: "TC Virtual Ping Pong" - Anthony Carin The worst case of "game for ants" yet. Had to blow up the screenshot because it plays at 256x256, of course resizing windows is a feature only for registered players. It's too small to even know if it's fun.

741: "NanoCore" - Paul Keet Hey, this game is actually delivers on being 3D. It's basically a themed BreakOut in 3D space, which is cool and all but honestly it's hard to judge depth, making it worse play.

740: "Master of the Maze" - Spice Software I think this was meant to be a very funny joke. That's the map under the compass. That layout means that every direction you face looks identical. There are no exits to this maze, this is shareware purgatory.

739: "Magic Balls" - Agentix Software It's a match 3 game. One with a design flaw. You can only make moves on highlighted balls, and there is nothing that ever shuffles or moves the board down. This means you just go through the moves and then it's game over.

735: "Ghost Cemetery" - Albert C. Ashton This is my final straw with Albert. I don't know how many reskins of his same shooting gallery game I've seen now. They feebly tried to justify that it's in the 3D category because the church is drawn with perspective.

734: "Earthquake Zeeno Prepared" - Sadiq Somjee Now this is strange. It's an interactive earthquake safety PSA with bootleg Barney. Make the purple guy identify hazards, find cover, and collect survival equipment. The earthquake never even comes!

733: "Cornerstone" - Francois Poulin This is the complete opposite of something 3D! It's as if they took a 3D Rubik's Cube and reversed over it and flattened it into 2D discs. I don't have the patience.

732: "Cloner 3D" - Game Yard It's a kind of like a match 3 game but in a swirling, organic, atomic themed way. Fire coloured orbs into the atom and hit clusters of the same colour to break them and score points.

731: "Break Thru" - Chris Nokleberg Computer, enhance! Had to sit an inch from the screen to play this, it's Break Out but in a 3D tunnel which is cool I guess. Not easy to judge distance which makes it even harder to play.

727: "3-D Maze" - Kingsoft This is another way to interpret a maze in 3D, but it's not a good one. There is absolutely no way to tell the direction your facing, where the exit might be, not even a single landmark. Just blue.

720: "Zanti!" - Doctor Science It's like Pipe Dream except it's not liquid in those pipes, it's ANTS. I guess an interesting thing is that the ants can emerge left or right from the ship but you won't know until the door opens, making it hard to plan a route.
