One of the most interesting
#CountingCollections
setups I’ve seen, particularly the use of ten frames.

How many? How did you count? (I found the number and arrangement of the lights very intriguing)

Had a great time watching
#CountedOut
tonight and listening to a discussion with
@mathforlove.bsky.social
and the rest of the crowd + unexpectedly running into some old friends. Glad I powered through my after work teacher exhaustion and made it there!

A little
#choralcounting
today as students explored counting down by 10s while modeling the count using base 10 blocks in small groups. (And what happens if we go more in either direction). Favorite comment before we started: “Oh yay! We’re choral counting again!”

The culmination of our unit on plants, trees, seeds, and the interconnectedness of humans & nature. Students chose trees to tell stories about, created their own stories, then cut + combined parts of their stories with others in their group to tell one narrative about trees.

Hi Bluesky ♾️ I do miss talking about random math with people! No idea if I’m doing this right, but let’s start out with something fun from a side quest during my CMC South trip. What do you notice? What do you wonder? What math questions could you ask?

4th graders debating if zero really exists or not (part 1): -Zero is a “neutral space” between negative and positive numbers -Zero is something because you can append it to numbers to make new ones -Zero exists (sort of) because 100x0=0, which changes the 100 into 0, but 100+0=100 (no change)
