I would love to have a candidate who does not sound “presidential”, who does not “have a dream”, who does not crave power. I want a good condo administrator. I want a president of the Swiss Federation. The humble yet noble servant, who does a job and retires. Truman, Ike, Carter, Reagan.

In 1924, after a socialist MP had been killed at the hand of fascists, 123 MPs "seceded" to the Aventine hill, in the spirit of the Roman Republic. Two years later, their mandate expired. They had accomplished nothing. The secession is a footnote to the gradual fascist takeover. 1/
