My original 2008 Xbox 360 Elite is back in business. Thermal paste replaced. Disc drive laser replaced and tuned. Disc drive belt replaced. Disc drive greased. Motherboard cleaned. Fans cleaned. Casing washed. A little daunting, but feels so good to have accomplished it 😊

Random game of the day 🎮 Quake. Sega Saturn. 1997 An absolutely phenomenal port of a game that shouldnt exist on the Saturn. Developed by the talented Lobotomy Software. Sure concessions have been made, but it still plays like Quake, especially if used with the 3D controller.

A lot has changed in 7 years. More consoles, more shelves, more tat. Plus an older and taller daughter! But one thing that hasn't changed is our shared love of gaming. Old or new, indie or AAA, my wonderful daughter is there for it all.

Many people wont appreciate that until 1992 in the UK, there was no legal requirement for electrical equipment to come with a plug. Buying a NES? Great. Comes with 2 pads, a game & zapper... But no plug. Which youll need to wire up yourself. Also, got any fuses? #RETROGAMING

So it would seem I own several versions of Link's Awakening, but have still yet to finish it! A crime I know. I got a fair way on the Switch but cannot recall why I stopped. My last save was 2019! I think I need to start again.

Now this is a tower of power! I love the original Xbox. It was the first non Nintendo console I owned and opened me up to a whole other world of games. So many great titles that showcase the power of the machine, with Half-Life 2 being a personal standout. Any fans out there?

13 hours into Atomfall and I'm having a great time. An interesting area to explore with lots of environmental story telling. Enjoy finding the leads to different quests, rather than just following a waypoint. I did crank the difficulty down though lol, not enough time to grind.

Currently staying in a hotel in Cologne, and the lounge is chock full of coffee table books. This particular title caught my eye! If only I had a coffee table!

Sim City 3D!

A fun little gaming memento. These Sega Pirate stickers date from 1993 when Sega sponsored the Williams F1 racing team. These were added to the drivers' rear wing for every race that they won. Suzuka is interesting as it wasn't a race that Williams won, therefore the sticker was never used.

Does anyone collect anything other than videogames? I have a bit of a thing for the 1979 BMW M1.

Lynx Fun Fact Mondays. (It's a thing okay?) The Lynx had 3 distinct cartridge designs. First (not pictured) had raised dots on the edge to help removal. When these proved insufficient two tabs were added (left).However these couldn't stack so a new curved design was introduced.

I genuinely lament the death of the gaming magazine. None more so than GamesTM. The perfect balance of easily digestible yet well written reviews and articles. I respected the opinions of the writers a great deal and it shaped my 00's gaming a great deal. It's closure in 2018 was a very sad event

What's an obscure game you own that you're pretty sure no one has ever heard of? I give you Titanic Mystery Ao no Senritsu. A port of the C64 game Titanic: The Recovery Mission. You explore the wreck, find artifacts, give press conferences and secure investors. It also includes aliens lol.

Saying it now, I love the N64. It seems to be the cool console to hate these days. Whether it's the "unusable" controller or "unplayable" games. Whilst nostalgia may play a part in my appreciation of the machine, and it's certainly not flawless, it's still bloody great fun!

Every 360 early adopter probably had one of these in their hands at some point. Saved for posterity. #RRoD
