Here's the third poster I will bring to ChaosiumCon UK. The cover of Men of the West, painted by Mark Smylie. This depicts Meime, Tournament King of Kustria, and Ingye, Queen of Galin. His armor is made by the dwarves - the helmet inspired by the horned helmet of Henry VIII. #Glorantha

Here's one of the other potential posters: Ships & Shores, picture by Mark Smylie. The Sea Mistress is towed by tugboats to the port of Nochet. #Glorantha

Last year at ChaosiumCon UK I displayed posters of Mark Smylie's art. If there's any interest, I'll bring additional copies - of any of the three covers - this year. Price will depend on demand, as printing and postage costs vary. I cannot post copies, as these are A1 sized posters. #Glorantha

Almost every year I read a number of Jack Vance novels. There's something refreshing and timeless about his fiction, but, this year, I can't find the paperbacks. I have obviously put them somewhere 'safe'....

Finished Pagans by James Alistair Henry. The split with our timeline plays an obvious part, but can't say what I believe it to be without giving a spoiler (obviously further back than 1066) The history impinges no more than it does in mainstream crime dramas; the cultures, however, offer clues.

So what am I reading? Curious Alt History: Pagans by James Alistair Henry. Celtic Tribal diplomat to Saxon London Summit discovered dead nailed to a tree. Celtic DI joins a Saxon reeve to investigate the murder. Together they fight crime. 21st century: wifi, mobiles, druids, seaxs. Hundreds of gods.

Just saw a picture of the owner of a bookshop in Minneapolis striding out of clouds of teargas, and decided to order something from his shop. Only way I can show support.

The effects of Low and High Tides at Rhigos. These are when the pull of the moons combine. A MoLaD gameboard map by Greg Stafford suggests the waters off Rhigos are deep - other areas can drain almost entirely. I shouldn't have added color to these - printer paper isn't very absorbent. #Glorantha

Anyone interested in illustration has probably heard of Angus McBride. He was a prolific artist; what I didn't know that he was also an author. I came across these two books last week, both quite fragile, but both signed!

This is a very poor photograph of a marvelous painting by Angus McBride. I've been aware of this as an illustration in a children's book for many years. This is the bestest Christmas present I've received for a long time. The level of detail is incredible, as you would expect from Angus McBride.

I wonder why this hasn't had wider coverage? Staff of the UK embassy sing on the Kyiv metro.

Sadly, all that was found among Karl Edward Wagner's effects were cover roughs sent by the publisher. Wagner was one of the great fantasy writers of the 20th Century, who could have been so much greater, but for his demons.

I've been studying the Oxford Cognitive Screen (OCS) tests I did on Thursday. I am obviously very lucky as I only made one or two small errors. The tests are a disturbing, fascinating, and frightening insight into what a stroke can damage.

That's my Covid vacinnation booked. Next week, a trip by bus and train to.... Colchester. Convenient in a way, as I still won't be allowed to drive, so it will be a day out.

It's been a long weird week. This time last week I was wondering what was happening. Today: legs almost normal; left arm still heavy and hand stiff. Odd having a pain in the hand when there's nothing physically wrong with it. I feel a little 'odd' in myself. All things considered I've been lucky.

Esrolian village by Simon Bray. The village sits on a mound; the site has been occupied for at least a thousand years. It is protected by a ditch and thorn hedge, and the houses form a protective wall. This is a small village, with maybe 200 inhabitants who work the surrounding fields. #Glorantha

I realised that was the wrong title, so Mark has kindly reworked the lettering. It's not a story about the storyteller, but mostly consists of myths and legends he tells. Believe I have a good excuse for being befuddled this week. #Glorantha

As some of you know, I have had a medical adventure this week. I hope to create the booklet towards the end of the month but will have to carefully work out how many copies I can bring to Dragonmeet. Here is the finished cover by Mark Smylie. #Glorantha

Very tired, and oddly emotionally distanced. May be the tablets or the effects of this week. Typing is still difficult so I won't be writing long replies. My left leg is 95% there but my left arm is at 80% and my hand still feels as though it isn't mine, and I am very left handed.

An update: I'm home. About 80% functionality restored in my arm and leg - stroke deep in the brain. I've been lucky - no apparent speech, memory, or personality damage. I was the only one walking up and down the Ward corridor - exercise is a way of rewiring the brain to restore control of a limb.
