Last call for the Rideau Canal Skateway! 📞⛸ After an amazing 56 days on the ice and more than one million visits, the time has come to say goodbye. The Rideau Canal Skateway will close tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4, at 10 pm.

WE ARE SO BACK! ⛸ The green flag is flying over the Rideau Canal Skateway, and a 3.4-km section is open between Somerset West and the Bank Street bridge. The world’s largest skating rink is officially open for the start of our 56th season.

We’re starting this season with a BANG! 💥 The Rideau Canal Skateway opens tomorrow, Wednesday December 31, at 8 am! We’re in the home stretch of preparations to open a 3.4 km section between Somerset West and the Bank Street bridge. The Bank Street stairs will not be open for now.

Give your Christmas tree a second lease on life! 🎄 Between December 23 and January 11, drop off your trees on Colonel By Drive, just west of the Bronson Avenue Bridge. We use recycled trees to create windbreaks along the Skateway near rest areas.

There’s something strange on the Skateway. 🔮😵 These scenes may resemble the Upside Down, but what you’re seeing is the aftermath of the season’s first floodings.

First flood, completed! 👀🤝 Yesterday, our teams flooded a section of the #RideauCanal Skateway between Patterson Creek Bridge and Bank Street. They use pumps to draw water from below the ice surface and help build the thickness needed to safely open the Skateway.
