In our Augustinus fundet project #MetalsandGiants, we published first results 🧪 in @plosone.org The #article describes a multi-proxy method that allows distinguishing between Sardinian, Iberian, and Levantine copper using osmium isotopes. We aim to understand metal trade in #bronzeage #Sardinia. 🏺

For #FindsFriday a real treasure. This close-up shows a typical #BronzeAge #spiral design punched with bronze #tools in bronze. It was an experiment carried out in the 1870's by famous #Danish archaeologists. This treasure trove of #knowledge was buried in a storage room until I discovered it! 🧪

Another kind of #MosaicMonday, the Giant's Causeway in Ireland, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, is shaped of uniform basalt columns forming a natural mosaic, which is around 60 million years old.

Early #FindsFriday news! Until now, the female #Bronzeage burial from #Rege in #Norway, has been compared to the famous Egtved #burial. On closer look, the Rege #beltplate is technically more advanced, more skillfull - we need to look for better comparisons! Presumably on the #Danish islands!

Absolutely fantastic, blue dyed cloth already in #Bronzeage. This implies that we need to imagine the Bronze Age as being far more colourful than we thought.

Last week, I visited the Rege #burial #mound, in Norwau. Erected in the Middle #Bronzeage, the mound contained two stone cist #chambers and was constructed from #turf and earth. This is quite unusual for western #Norway.

A new theoretical framework for the study of interaction and trade in Bronze Age Norway!🧪

In our #article on horned creatures in #Bronzeage Europe, we highlight the similarities and contemporary appearance of #hornedhelmets in Sardinia, Iberia, and Scandinavia. During the #Bronzeage (around 1000–800 BC), it seems that these three regions shared the concept of the #horned #warrior. 🧪

#TombTuesday - the #Bronzeage #burialmound from Boes in central Jutland, #Denmark. These burial mounds were erected by social groups to bury important people from the early Bronze Age onwards. #archaeology
