New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT (9/10) Funny enough, this balanced out to about the same as S1. It was more focused and consistently fun than the slapdash nature of the OG, but it kind of used up its best material by ep 9 and that also led to a more predictable climax.

Nukitashi the Animation (9.5/10) "Make Love, Not War" has never been taken so literally. I don't think I've seen another eroge story integrate its mediums' fuck-logic directly into its satire: a society that overvalues sexual conquest is itself repressing sexual expression.

Ngl kind of underwhelmed that heaven in NEW P&S was more modeled after Greek mythology even though the big bad is Gabriel.

In about 4 hrs I'm headed to my church's retreat, so I'll be detoxing from the internet this weekend. Let's see if that's enough time to finish Nukitashi.

Dr Stone Science Future (10/10) The America Arc encapsulates everything great about the series: A villain representing all the wrongs of science brought down by its youngest believer. Suika will now forever be remembered as one of Shonen's greatest little guys.

Had to watch all of Turkey for this 😭 I did give Panty and Stocking some extra love though.

Turkey (1/10) I did not watch this by choice, and frankly it makes Zenshu look even better than before. Also, Gigguk did the last ep twist better in Baan.

Grand Blue S2 (6/10) I'm glad that for anime-onlies, the material this covers is strong enough to keep the hype for more. Just getting to hear Busujima at all was a joy. But when my favorite comedy manga couldn't crack my top 4 comedy anime of the season, something's wrong.

My Dress Up Darling S2 + Call of the Night S2 (10/10) I don’t think it’s a coincidence that both these series aired the same year. Both are about embracing your inner freak, but reach very different answers on where your partner is. One is the sunshine to the other’s moonlight.

Nyaight of the Living Cat (8/10) The most underrated comedy anime of the year. While it starts to just go through the motions of the zombie tropes it parodies, the "you become a cat" twist NEVER gets old. If nothing else, I applaud it for committing to the bit this long. 🫡

Dandadan S1+2 (10/10) Very few series fit the term "full package" quite like this. It's in some ways the ultimate shonen fantasy (fighting monsters with the love of your life), but recognizes the heart and ambition needed to make that fulfilling. Tempted to read the next arc.

Dr Stone S4 Ep 23 is entering my coveted list of Perfect Episodes. 4 seasons of progress encapsulated into one beautiful act of perseverance. Seeing this moment finally ripped from the pages onto my TV was something I'm glad to have lived long enough to see.

Dealing with Mikadono Sisters Is a Breeze (9/10) Admittedly ends on its weakest arc. But of all the recent harem series after Quintuplets, this is the one I’m most hoping to get a S2. Way too much people watched Shiunji Family over this because they can’t handle handsome girls.

I gotta say Happosai isn’t AS bad as I though he would be. Admittedly I’m skipping his filler eps, but in canon eps he’s an effective inverse of the “respect you elders” mantra. Probably helps that after his intro, most of his groping becomes focused on a Ranma who can leash him.

ED of the Year

Lord of Mysteries (4.5/10) For what it's worth, the last act centering on aborting cthullu with Davy Jones' chest is the type of sick shit you'd want out of a lovecraftian story. That said, this is a donghua that equates the density of its lore to meaningful depth.

To Be Hero X (9.5/10) Trust and Fear are two sides of the same coin, much like a 10 ep perfect run and killer last 2 sandwich a dragged out middle. But when it HITS, it's some of the most ambitious animated storytelling on TV.

Some Lord of Mysteries fans Outside: "Ya'll can't read or hate mysteries. I wish I could give it an 11/10!" Inside: "WHY would you adapt it like THAT?! Now we're the donghua equivalent of KH fans! 😭"

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle 1 (8.5/10) Back to about Mugen Train level After Swordsmith and Hashira, they've kind of admitted this series can't build characters BEFORE the fights. But at least the flashbacks don't suck this time (RIP Hakuji).

And now a pretty apt metaphor for how the police state recruits those it victimizes to keep the status quo by being “one of them”.

The reason Dr Stone has remained one of my favorite shonen stories is its particular focus on possibility and legacy: What can you discover to benefit the world, and who will you trust that dream to? The only other Jump series to hit that combo for me is One Piece.

Guess it makes sense that "Puberty" Syndrome feels out-of-place outside of High School, because Rascal S2 has one of its only good arcs centered on a uni couple teaching a young homewrecker what a grown-up relationship looks like.

Chainsaw Days (9/10) Reminiscent of how the Juju Scrolls were adapted. While I dug how S1 prioritized immersion, I wouldn't have minded if we got more of these as post-credits. Also Power might be worse than Makima for one thing they reveal in the last short. 😤

The Legend of Hei 2 (8.5/10) More use of digital in-betweening and an underdeveloped villain did lead to a weaker experience, but Luye was a good auntie and that a fight on the falling plane had me floored.

Gotta admit in the grand scheme of things, Nukitashi might’ve handled its ED arc better than MT S2.

Rewatching Solo Leveling Dubbed, and yeah Aleks Le was one win it rightfully earned. Being someone that played both Zenitsu and Thorfinn, his shift in voice from worm to chad overtime is rather seamless. It adds alot of character to Jinwoo's growth.

Who's the real tourist

Wish the Grand Blue anime could slow down for moments like this, but the way Busujima and Iori connect after their first meeting still stands out. These two had genuine reasons to beef with eachother, but overtime they noticed how much they could relate to one another.

For the last 4 eps of Nukitashi, I've decided it's worth the money for 1 month of oceanveil.

El-Hazard: The Magnificent World (9/10) El-Hazard 2 (5/10) Fascinating to see that this was the one big male-centered Isekai in the 90s female-centered trend, because its side characters (Fujisawa, Jinnai, Shayla Shayla) feel like the blueprint to the leads in Narou Isekai.

CITY is a very different type of iyashikei: never stops moving and screams at the top of its lungs, but always soulful. I leave each ep cleansed of that week’s misery.

Reached ep 7 after slowly picking up the Lord of Mysteries Dub So he just spent 4 eps grinding the wrong RPG Stat (divination), yet resetting it basically upgrades his Ghost GPS to the Magic Wayback Machine 😐
