3 eps in and im really mixed on the Go For It Nakamura-kun anime. On one hand, removing scenes like this just makes his attachment to Hirose feel less real. Him coming to his defense would've changed alot of how I view this relationship.

Tune In to the Midnight Heart (7/10) What if Marty Supreme was in a harem? One of the rare cases where the MC overshadows the heroines, but Rikka's eps make for a solid music anime.

Virgin Punk - Clockwork Girl (6/10) Unc still got it, but did it need to take longer than Redline? Carries over several themes from KITE while incorporating Digital effects to Umetsu’s bone-crunching style seamlessly, but I’m glad he’s taking a hint not to be so perfectionist in the future.

Chainsaw Woman (first 37) (10/10) Chainsaw Man Pt.2 (97 after) (8/10) I'd be lying if by far the best material wasn't when Asa was the lead, but by the end I could sense the burnout. So my one hope was whatever chapter came afterwards wouldn't ruin Pt 1. I got my wish.

Suisei Hoshimachi - Primadonna (9/10) Announcing you're your own boss within your boss's channel like this is beyond based. While its not my favorite song of hers, ligton helped Suisei deliver by far her most visually impressive MV.

Ray (Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Version) They should just staple this onto the end of the movie and replay the full song afterwards. That climb to the top and the victory lap afterwards is well-earned.

Evangelion 30th Anniversary Special (10/10) Once I realized this was an honest-to-god character study of how Asuka has been treated in both universes and how this was finally a chance to free her, this became the best thing to come out of the rebuilds. Was that so hard, Anno?

The First Line (9/10) China's previous Toho short (Detarame na Sekai no Melodrama) was impressive for nailing its old school look, but nothing more. This shows how to get it done. Probably cheating making an anime about animation, but showing it from a more practical perspective did move me.

Project Hail Mary (10/10) Like snorting the past 12 years of space movies all at once to become THE space movie since Gravity and possibly the best Alien Friend movie since Lilo & Stitch. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, you just tailor-made the "Go Out and DO IT" movie for me.

Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic (10/10) Titanic with Zombies is somehow the least crazy reveal in this. By the end, my perception of several of these characters was turned on its head. If this is the peak of the anime, I’m beyond satisfied.

So interesting to see amidst JP LN fans complaining about Shiboyugi taking liberties, one example that popped up of an anime original route going well is a title I haven’t heard in over 10 years:

Silent Möbius: THE MOTION PICTURE (4/10) Katsumi was who people think Shinji was, except she came 5 years earlier. Pretty to look at, but it’s mostly one long pilot ep where our leading lady gets terrorized that’s spliced in the middle of her final fight: all growth off-screen.

Hana-Kimi (5/10) Charming when Ashiya’s being a bro, but she really does just walk into trouble. Also while the boys are fun on their own, I'm not particularly hooked on any pairing. I'll stick around for a bit more, but you can feel that it's a dated work.

Galaxy Express 999: Claire of the Glass (8/10) Tetsuro got one glimpse of her at the dining car and said “would.”

Iria: Zeiram the Animation (8/10) Iria could low diff Boba Fett.

Black Butler: Book of Murder (8.5/10) It was pretty hilarious seeing Sebastian’s “I can do anything” schtick pushed to the absolute limit by breaking every rule in a murder mystery possible. The real twist though is how this didn’t spawn more Arthur pairing fics.

Black Butler S1 (7/10) Black Butler S1 was about a caretaker and lonely child. Book of Circus was about a childhood robbed and watchful servant. While it's understandable how this Ciel and Sebastian would be more marketable, I get why fans were begging for the latter.

What I'm getting from the recent discourse is Wandering Son's anime was a similar situation to Usagi Drop.

Hoppers (9/10) Marketed as Over The Hedge meets Avatar, but one political assassination later turns into "What if The Wild Robot was told by a Ghibli fan on shrooms?" The only kids film on man vs nature with practical solutions: reach out to communities and threaten your mayor with flying sharks.
