Joe Scarborough just called the VP a liar on-air. I feel like using the âLâ word is a corner-turning moment.

Weâre guaranteeing $20B of Argentine debt? That seems like a bad idea. By which I mean, it seems like weâre giving away $20B taxpayer dollars with no benefit to US taxpayers.

I continue to read and hear folks demanding that President Obama and Vice President Harris âdo something.â But I rarely (never?) read or hear anyone demand the same of President Bush and folks like him. Time for them to step up, donât you think?

Two broad reasons for government to provide homeless services: The first is moral. Literally every faith tradition makes it clear how we must respond. The second is utilitarian. It is a clear public health and economic negative for ALL of us when SOME of us are unhoused.

Tylenol is a brand name for a product whose active ingredient is acetaminophen. Generally the gubmint warns us against an active ingredient, not a brand, which, in this case, is owned by a good American company. That good American company is about to sue the bejeezus out of the federal gubmint.

Eventually there will be folks in charge who are not MAGA.Those folks are likely taking notes right now. People who support MAGA (and its subsets) should consider that every time they celebrate expansion of federal executive power. Thatâs not a threat, itâs political physics.

We do not have a common understanding of âLibertyâ There are Americans who do not have the âlibertyâ to go about their lives without being watched and followed by (now sometimes masked) agents of the government. And we have Americans who feel their âlibertyâ is infringed by painted crosswalks.

A 6% sale on guns and ammo will absolutely (not) make Florida safer and more prosperous for the people who live here. But itâs a great way to avoid taking action on skyrocketing home insurance costs, I guess.

Pendulums always swing. How far they swing in one direction is a good indication of how far theyâll swing in the other. We rarely know when theyâve reached the stretch of their arc until after the return has begun. But they never get stuck for long. Leaders should be aware of this principle.

The Horse Race Media (HRM) and the loud far ends of the political spectrum benefit from you forgetting this, but the Democratic Party is six representatives (of 435) and four senators (of 100) from controlling the US Congress. The âYeah, butâ replies will follow, but they wonât change this fact.

Tariffs are convoluted sales taxes. Who pays these sales taxes? The people who buy the tariffed products. That means you pay it and I pay it. Your grandma pays it. Your kids and your neighbors pay it. You pay it at the grocery, at the convenience store, at nearly every cash register you visit.

I buy 18 ounces of ground Dunkin coffee every week at the same grocery store. When the current president was sworn-in, it cost $14.99. Today it costs $17.99. Thatâs an increase of 20%. You can pretty much directly blame 47âs tariffs. Thatâs twelve bucks a month out of my familyâs pocket.

I am generally a person who believes there is a way forward to a better world for everyone, and that despite obstacles, we can get there. But I am reminded that we live in a nation that treasures the idea of guns more than the lives of children, and I am not sure how to find the way forward.
