I’ve just bought a Z1-6 Off Peak Travelcard from my local Thameslink station into London… despite getting free TfL travel… because the evening peak services towards home are off peak travelcard-able, but not off peak return-able. How the layperson is expected to understand that is BEYOND me.

Woke up early on my first day back at work for 2 weeks and my first day at the new depot 🙃

Good news! I slept! 8h30 to make up for the measly 3 something hours yesterday… so I’m feeling a bit less like a zombie today.

I’m off sick tonight because I didn’t get nearly enough sleep. So it’s bath night… … although apparently it’s bath night for Doug, not me.

And so my week of leave begins… honestly I don’t recall the last time I felt such a need for time off and I’m so glad it’s here.

This has been one of the most stressful work weeks of my life. Certainly since I left teaching. It’ll be a nice walk in the woods, some cleaning, and a cocktail this evening to celebrate it finally being fucking over.

Finish work at 1:26, home by (hopefully) 2:45… and up by 8am for my EV Charger to be installed. If I’m still human tomorrow evening for work, those passengers had better be fucking grateful 😇

Fresh sheets night is the best.

Well. I am starting the new year actually looking my age and having an age appropriate haircut… and a shave.

Not a terrible first Christmas in my new home. A decent Christmas dinner cooked, cuddles with the dogs and I’m just starting a Negroni.

Today is my Friday / Christmas Eve and honestly I’ve never been more ready for a few days off. Roll on 1:03am and home time.

I would like to shave to look more presentable. My shaving kit is in UNKNOWN BOX SOMEWHERE. I am over a week in and still have boxes all over and idk where anything that isn’t already unpacked is… Oh and my toothbrush has today asked for a recharge. Do I know where the charger is? lol no.

I am not a morning person and I have spent the last 2 weeks being a human before I would ordinarily exist. I’m back on dead lates from Monday. I need to get back into the right routine.

D’ya know what I really appreciate this evening? Sitting on a sofa. Or more accurately, not sitting on the floor.

Finally. I am home owner again. Government, enjoy your tax.

Day two, hopefully attempt two. Will I move today? Who fucking knows. I do, however, now know that the floor does not make a comfortable bed.

It’s 6:55pm. 12 hours on. I’m sitting on the floor in the house I woke up in, without furniture, but with a good few more grey hairs. No move today thanks to solicitors… despite all parties’ funds being released from their banks. Try again tomorrow? Let’s fucking hope so.

Right. It’s 6:55am and I’ve given my solicitors permission to exchange and complete today. I swear if this doesn’t go through today, I’m driving to my buyer’s solicitors and slapping each of them in the face 😇

I haven’t finished all the packing or all the sorting. Almost all, but not all. And frankly, it’s 2 hours to go until what should be moving day and it isn’t and I’m tired and kinda done.

Hopefully today is the last day in my current home, my first step onto the property ladder. I think the second will be my final. This was stressful enough. Never again, thank you. And that’s assuming it all goes through tomorrow.

I am tired. I am anxious. I am stressed. I am supposed to move on Monday. Contract exchange hasn’t happened. I haven’t finished packing. There are boxes everywhere.

Today is a busy day. Busier now because the little pooch needs to see the vet. Packing continues, slowly. Annoyingly. And I still haven’t exchanged contracts. But the money has been requested from the bank for my mortgage sooooo… it might be going ahead?

My buyer’s solicitor raised a new enquiry today… and we are supposed to exchange tomorrow (which should have been yesterday had they done their job earlier) and complete on Monday. Hopefully.

I’m clearing out my wardrobe. How many pairs of trousers is acceptable? Bearing in mind that I wear a uniform for work, which don’t count towards the total… I have 17 pairs*. I hear recycling calling… *including 5 pairs of shorts.

Went for one last appointment at the vets with Eddie before we hopefully move (if my buyer’s solicitors do what they’re paid for)… I gave the practice manager a hug for being just wonderful over the past 6 and a half years. … Eddie had to get involved in the hug too. He jumped up for a hug. 🥰

So… Student Loans Company fucked up and have overcharged me for my PGCE loan, and haven’t provided me with the 2025 Annual Statement… and can’t see why 🙃 Fortunately that overcharge goes into my Bachelors loan, not back to me ofc 🙃

Shaved and got myself looking half-decent for a coffee date with my ex-work husband 😇

I don’t care how cold it is, I’m getting a damned McFlurry on my way to work because I’m working nights after a stressful week of still not moving house so I think I deserve a fucking treat.

Lucked out and my train was cancelled. So I have to sit and watched Wicked: Part 1. Oh no, how terrible. I guess someone had nothing but the highest hopes for some of us… 👀

Running the night tubes tonight, so I’m currently in bed for naptime with my hot water bottle.

My packing boxes finally arrived! I have packed exactly one box of stationery. I then proceeded to write (most of) my Christmas cards… but not all. And now I’m feeling lazy so I’m gaming.

I removed the hair that sits / sat on my face. It is now cleanly shaven. This is weird. I’m not as uncomfortable with it as I expected I’d be.

So… for no reason, I shaved my face today. First time in about 18 months(?) that I’ve been facial-hair free. It’s strange… my chin is cold.

Given that I finished work at 7:45am after a night shift, came home, walked the dogs and had about a 2 hour nap, I’m feeling surprisingly well and alive.
