After shooting 7-9 at the rim in the first half, #mubb is just 4-11 at the rim in the second half. That is not good and one of the reasons Marquette is trailing by 6.

At the 2H U8, #mubb trails 74-69. This team needs stops. This team needs to get its energy back. This team needs to take care of the ball.

You hate to see a kid like Pharrell Payne get hurt like that. It’s clearly impacted both teams while Maryland has rallied and #mubb lost a lot of energy. Marquette trails Maryland 70-64 with 9:13 left.

At the 2H U16, #mubb leads Maryland, 50-44. Really good 4-minute segment highlighted by another Nigel to Zaide throw down. Marquette D held the Terps to 1-5 from the floor including 0-3 while forcing 4 turnovers during that segment.

At the U12, #mubb trails Maryland, 20-11. Marquette is disjointed on both ends. It feels like the deficit should be more with the Terps shooting 80% versus 29% for Marquette. Marquette is (+5) on the offensive glass which helps. Even in turnovers.

At the U16, #mubb trails the Tetons, 12-7. No real concerns yet even with Maryland shooting 4-4 from 3. Marquette has started cleaning up their close outs. The team defense including Caedin on Pharrell Payne has been really good. I like Zaide being aggressive on offense despite missing 3’s.

Some interesting stats to me through the small sample size of four games for #mubb: 1. Chase Ross is the only player averaging double figures scoring at 18.3 points per game. Last year, four players averaged double figures including Kam Jones, David Joplin, Stevie Mitchell and Ross. 1/

At the 2H U4, #mubb leads 82-42. Good minutes from Tre Norman at the point. I still like Tre a lot as a “glue guy”. Norman doesn’t have an exceptional part of his game but he plays solid D, rebounds and has a calming influence. Michael Phillips seems to be shaking his freshman nerves too.

Down 20 at the second half U8, 83-63 for #mubb. There are glimpses of what this team can be. But they are young. Defensive rotations need to tighten up. Offensive play sets need improvement, especially the pick and roll and pick and pop.

At the U12 in the second half, #mubb trails 73-57. Nice run was answered by Indiana. Hoosiers are shooting and making from distance versus the zone. Still too many turnovers and lost possessions.
