GACNS is calling on supporters of Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) youth to email the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD).

Due to high levels of public interest, GACNS has decided to open registration for our Youth Advisory Council (GAC YAC) pilot to the public. Youth between the ages of 16 and 25 are invited to register for the pilot. Open registration will end Sunday, February 4, 2024.

Gender Affirming Care Nova Scotia announces the second episode of its Youth Advisory Council series, where participants investigate qualitative data collection and analysis. This episode presents relevant concepts within the context of the research of our presenter, Itai Kuwodza (she/her).

The Gender Affirming Care Youth Advisory Council is launching this week with its first episode, which centres on public policy and governance. GACNS is pleased to announce Michael Gillis (any pronouns) as our first speaker.

Our report to the NS College of Surgeons and Physicians on the Atlantic ADHD Centre has been sent. We intend to publicly release a redacted version of the report on Feb 28.

Why is the bare minimum expectation of government, to ensure your health workers are training on inclusive language, included on the list of voting options in a competition for innovative health ideas? This is not a "good idea," it is a minimum requirement and has no place in this competition.

Atlantic ADHD Centre Project update: We have completed our report and have distributed it to participants for review. After a one week review period, we will complete any outstanding changes/revisions and send the report to the College. We will make redacted report publicly available on Feb 28.

While GACNS welcomes that NS EECD will be updating their outdated policy regarding 2SLGBTQIA+ students, we would like to express concern about the province's comment that it will not be changing or removing its parent/guardian consent requirement for students in 6th grade or lower. This is two-fold:
