#Finds This is a copper alloy strap end made from sheet metal. It has a strengthening bar and two rivets to attach it securely to a belt. Strap ends of this form are uncommon in our region. This one may be an up-market type made in an urban centre. Found at Roxby cum Risby, North Lincs

#WhatsOn Today the Museum Makers went on a trip to International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln. We explored two brilliant exhibition spaces, handled artefacts from the Centre's collection and had a guided tour of the memorial.

#Finds This object is made of copper alloy and is identified as a tuning peg for a post-medieval stringed musical instrument. The tapered pin at the base of the peg fitted a hole drilled in the body, head or neck of the instrument. Found at Roxby cum Risby, North Lincolnshire

#ThrowbackThursday Return of Boer War volunteers to Scunthorpe, 1901. Crowds gathered in Station Road to greet the return of volunteers. They were driven in a wagonette to St John the Evangelist's Church, where a service of thanksgiving was held.

#WhatsOn This week's session was organised independently by the Makers themselves, presenting about the Holocaust. Three Makers presented about different aspects, and prepared a test for teams of Makers to complete.

#nationalstorytellingweek It's National Storytelling Week, to celebrate we had a Goldilocks themed Museum Minis session today complete with porridge oats.

#Finds This is a large fragment of a bowl cast in copper alloy and then finished on a lathe. It is dated to the Roman period and as such is a remarkable survival. Found at Knaith, Lincolnshire

#WhatsOn In today's Museum Maker's session we had a look at the upcoming exhibition Home in Our Hearts / Дім у наших серцях, discovering a little bit about the history of Ukraine and looked at some loans which will be in the exhibition.

#Finds St Anthony’s Cross. This is a silver Tau or T-shaped cross pendant, with a broken loop at the top showing it was worn as an amulet. It dates to the later medieval period. Found at Broughton, North Lincolnshire

#WhatsOn Today one of the Makers did a presentation on the historic eel fishing in the Isle of Axholme. Well done!

#WhatsOn In this month's Archaeology and History Club we explored the world of Ancient Egypt. We made scarab beetles out of clay and wrote our names using hieroglyphs. We explored artefacts that told us more about everyday life at the time and acted out the process of mummification.

#Finds A military brooch. This is a cast copper alloy Knee Brooch - named for its resemblance to a furniture leg – and probably worn by a soldier. It is the fourth knee brooch found near the northern end of Ermine Street. Another three lay in a cluster overlooking Dragonby.

#WhatsOn In today's Museum Makers session, a member of the Collections team gave an introduction to Vermuyden. Each Museum Maker created a watercolour impression of what they thought the landscape would have looked like hundreds of years ago.

#Finds Ugly but important. This object was cast as a thin teardrop-shaped plate with a groove at its narrow end. It’s a Roman nail cleaner. Found at Winteringham, North Lincolnshire

#WhatsOn In today's session we had a presentation from one of the Makers. Then we looked through the seaside reminiscence box which included items like a metal bucket, postcards and a toy boat.

#Finds Guess what's back for the new year? This object resembles a little spherical sheet metal rumbler bell: the sort that a jester might wear sewn to his hat. Bells were a popular costume accessory in later medieval times. They might be cast or formed from sheet metal.

#Makers Today we learnt about gift giving through the ages, from a celebration of the winter solstice at Stonehenge to the Christmas celebrations we have today. Participants had the opportunity to create and decorate a small gift box to take home.

#ThrowbackThursday Horse, at Oswald Farm, Water Lane, Frodingham, Scunthorpe. Oswald Farm was owned by the local dignitary, Arthur Swaby, who was the landlord of the 'Bluebell Hotel'.

#Makers We split the group into two, in order to visit the Kiswa exhibition. Yusuf and Omar from Kiswa Arts and Culture talked through each of the artefacts and about the Islamic faith. We tried our hand at embroidery, inspired by the Kiswa pieces, using wool and plastic needles.

#ThrowbackThursday Domestic staff in the Deer Park in the grounds of Normanby Hall in 1926. Hilda Brunt who worked in the kitchen is next to 'Charles' in footman's uniform and Frances. The donkey was used everyday to move household rubbish from the Hall.

#Makers In today's session the group made baubles and angels out of paper. These decorations will be used for the Rotary Club of Scunthorpe Festival of Trees.

#ThrowbackThursday Farmworkers mainly from John Davy's Farm at Thornton Abbey and Somersby on their way to enrol in the Local Defence Volunteers at Brigg during the Second World War in 1940 The L.D.V. became the Home Guard. Amongst the group are Mr M. Davy and Mr Tom Carr.
