i recently got into her music and have fallen in love. this album in particular, if you like jazzy neosoul type of singing then you'll like this album too.

to a degree we may augment ourselves with our partners, especially in the initial stages so we don't scare each other off that wears off eventually but you shouldn't be with someone who can't handle who you really are

MIKE Tha God Fahim is a talented producer whose rapping style is definitely an acquired taste. MIKE crafts some of the most aesthetically rich and sonically pleasing sounds in hip hop. his rapping style can also be an acquired taste but there's more meaning and substance

when i say “come here,” i don’t mean your body. i mean bring the parts you hide. bring the guilt, the ache, the unspoken. i want all of you. not just what’s photogenic.

i wasn’t looking for another romance, yet i find myself in a slow dance. not chasing a spark, but feeling the flame of someone who came without playing a game.

she's my poem, my rainy day record, my front porch hum, i ache for her in colors that ain’t even named yet.

i love the way she listens when i ramble about records, or when her laughter settles deep in the room. she's learning me, asking me, choosing me. and in that pursuit, i come undone.

she unfolds me, piece by piece, origami patience in her fingertips. my mind’s a maze, but she read the glyphs. where others saw walls, she saw scripture.

the 'sexless man crisis' isn't from lack of intimacy, it’s a lack of self-reflection too many men are entitled, not aware no questions to why their relationships fail, what role they play, or desires beyond physical validation they need to ask: what energy am i bringing? what am i really seeking?

Black men experience it too, we just rarely call it that. it shows up as silence, overworking, shallow relationships, or hiding behind jokes, sex, even religion. we've been conditioned to survive without naming our emotional needs, but the ache is real. it’s just coded differently in us.

nothing pissed me off more than when someone would try to downplay how i felt. like expressing emotion made me less valid, less credible, or somehow wrong.

they lack emotional literacy as well

tried to look cool at the skating rink. fell. got bumped into trying to stand. got bumped again, dropped my phone, and fell again. it was so bad, they stopped the music so i could leave. i turned in my skates and never looked back.

the amount of malfunctions and accidents i've seen are STAGGERING it's as if there's been a steep decline in the infrastructure since we were children.

the other night when i was on the phone with her talking about what makes us happy. her schooling me on soul and R&B, and me putting her on to punk and dance music. it was sweet.

i used to but now, if i am too much or feel i am too much for people, then they were never meant for me. in friendships or in romance, you get all of me or nothing at all.
