Jack O’Connell has been one of my favourite actors since Skins. Loved him in ‘71, Starred Up, Harry Brown, Back to Black, and of course more recently in Sinners. Buzzing for The Bone Temple. Unfortunately think I’ve missed the boat on interviewing him now that he’s blown up this past year or so!

Based on a fictional novel that ties a classic Shakespeare tragedy to the death of his young son, Chloé Zhao’s period drama Hamnet explores love and loss in a way in which engineers an emotional response through melodramatic theatricalities. Didn’t work for me but the child actors are fantastic.

Three films into James Cameron’s epic colonisation fantasy, there’s no denying the wondrous visual spectacle of Avatar: Fire & Ash but the writing is too bogged down in repetition, not just from the other films in the franchise but within its own 3 hr plus runtime. Great new villain though!
