Left me so utterly alone that now... abandonment feels like those punches I laughed off. I think... abandoning someone when they could use you is one of the worst things you can do. I'd rather you fight with me than say nothing... Nothing means goodbye.

I think that's why I am so quick to flee from something that doesn't feel safe. Because the last time I didn't, I was trapped. Its why now I strive to be kind but also sort of nothing. Can't take a hit if you aren't noticed. He somehow always made it my fault. Turned everyone against me.

Eventually he left me and I was devastated. I took the beatings, the cruel words with a smile. I laughed when people saw my bruises and said "oh he was just horsing around" I did everything I could. I was still left. "Our" friends vanished. I was a beaten barely 21 yr old woman and I was alone

Over the last few days I have learned a lot of about myself. I was the bullied fat girl in school who was weird, read a lot and watched anime. This led to me feeling so ashamed that I stayed with a man who beat me for 5 years because he said he loved me when I though I was unlovable.
