Hello Gardening Friends, This years crop failure is undoubtedly the corn. I am surprised to see an ear actually forming considering the lack of another stalk. The variety is 'Bodacious', and it was a couple of years old. 🌱 It is going to be delicious. Let me know your failures this growing year.

Hello Gardening Friends, It took six teenage boys 3 hours to move 15yds of soil into my perimeter raised beds. It cost me $100 in steak and a few beers by a bonfire. 🌱 I am not sure who was happier about the deal, them or me, but they sure had fun. Have a beautiful day.

Hello Gardening Friends, Snow in July? Relax, it's Poplar tree fluff. Allergy sufferers, you got this. 🌱 Makes me wonder, what are the worst trees in your neck of the woods? It's a toss-up here between Manitoba Maples (rot inside/out & prolific seeders) and Poplars (Fluff & root shoots).

Made the best burgers for 🇨🇦 Canada Day. Bacon, mushroom, and swiss cheese. They were delicious. Used leftover sweet potato with fresh rosemary as the binder. Yummy. It's an excellent way to tie up a fantastic Canada Day!

Hello Gardening Friends, The Pond Lilies are blooming. 🌱 At the farm I have a 70,000 gallon Natural Swimming Pool. It has been a huge experiment for the last seven years. This spring, I learned that the shallower (4 feet) planted liles bloom faster than the deeper planted ones (10 feet). FYI

Hello Gardening Friends, Lilac season is coming to a close. 🌱 The 'Miss Kim' Lilacs are finishing up. It's such a lovely small shrub. Even the flowers appear more delicate than their common cousin. Last evening had those final scents were wafting through the yard. Smell you next spring. 😆

Hello Gardening Friends, This mornings walk showed me that the Wild Prairie Rose (Rosa arkansana) is just starting to bloom. It is a shrub I am afraid to plant, as I think it would grow too well. 🌱 They grow freely in ditches and along roadsides. The birds and bees love them. Have a great day.

Hello Gardening Friends, I spent the busy weekend doing yard work. In town, I mowed the grass which is growing like mad. Pit some edging around a flower bed, transplanted some grass, and planted a planter. At the farm, it was cleaning out perennial beds and the big greenhouse. Check out this peony.
