Day 7 of Dementia Action Week recognises carers. “Alzheimer’s is degrading and relentless. It reduces sufferers until they fade away… it left me bereft and feeling useless.” - Millie, carer

Day 6 of Dementia Action Week focuses on communication and future planning. “I am still here - listen to me, not just about me.” - Dáithí A lasting power of attorney (LPA) helps someone living with dementia appoint trusted people to support future decisions if needed.

Day 5 of Dementia Action Week focuses on communication and young onset dementia. One person in our BOLD community shared: "When I see my friend struggling to understand what professionals are saying to her, I just hold her hand and try not to speak for her but in the end I do."

Day 4 of Dementia Action Week focuses on the emotional reality of dementia and the experiences of carers. "I didn’t know people could lose their words. My partner was a writer and lost his words." - Alec, carer Dementia can reshape everyday life and relationships.

Day 3 of Dementia Action Week focuses on dignity and LGBTQ+ inclusive dementia care. "Maintaining Liz’s lesbian identity in dementia care home setting is central to her wellbeing." - Finola, carer Identity, relationships and community still matter.

Day 2 of Dementia Action Week focuses on people living without a diagnosis. Alzheimer's Society says 1 in 3 people in the UK living with dementia do not have one. Through BOLD, Switchboard offers LGBTQ+ dementia support groups, peer support and practical workshops across Sussex.

We conclude Trans+ History Week by recognising the work of Sabah Choudrey (they/he), writer, speaker and co-founder of Trans Pride Brighton. Sabah’s work has helped create more visible conversations around gender, faith, race and identity.

Today we’re recognising the work of Munroe Bergdorf (she/her), writer, model, activist and University of Brighton graduate. Munroe has helped challenge stereotypes and widen conversations around trans rights, representation and inclusion.

Today we’re recognising the work of Owl Fisher / Ugla Stefanía Kristjönudóttir Jónsdóttir (she/her), writer, filmmaker and co-creator of My Genderation. Their work has helped create more visible and honest conversations around trans lives and community.

Today we’re recognising the work of Ezra Woodger, author of "To Be A Trans Man". Through storytelling and interviews, Ezra explores trans masculinity, identity and community with honesty and care.

Today we’re recognising the work of Natalie Washington (she/her), founder of Football v Transphobia. Natalie has worked to challenge discrimination in sport and support more inclusive football spaces, while also supporting trans community organising through Trans Pride Brighton.

Today we’re shining a spotlight on Fox Fisher (they/he), artist, filmmaker and co-founder of My Genderation. Fox helped found Trans Pride Brighton and has worked for years to create more honest and human trans visibility through storytelling, film and photography.
