New: Tornado Watch now in effect until 3:00 am. SPC says a couple of strong tornadoes are possible as well as widespread 80 mph damaging straight-line winds. Time to make sure your safe place is cleaned out. Be ready to head there if a warning is issued. We're here ready to go.

A Tornado Watch will likely be issued for us within the next hour. Forecast remains on track, with damaging straight-line winds being the main threat, an isolated tornado possible. ETA still ~10-11p. The main event today will be a line of storms along a sharp cold front. Timing has been very consistent in the models, having it come through in the 10-11 pm timeframe. This line will have the potential to produce extensive damaging straight-line winds and a low risk of tornadoes. Stay weather aware

Looking through some stuff tonight, one thing occurs to me. We know it will be windy along the front. The probabilities we've been throwing around are for meteorologically severe winds (58+ mph) where warnings are issued. But, the threshold for damage around here will be less...(1/3)

As expected, a Wind Advisory will go into effect at 1 pm Sunday and expire at 1 am Monday. Gusts to 40 mph are expected outside of the storms. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

SPC has increased our probabilities of severe weather for Sunday night. We've gone up to 30% chance of severe weather within 25 miles (mostly a damaging wind threat). The hatched area indicates that the straight line wind damage could be significant and widespread. Prepare for power outages.
