NWS has confirmed a tornado in Davidson County at 2:28 am Tuesday morning (no surprise). It was rated EF-1 with max winds at 95 mph. The majority of the track was juuuust inside Robertson County along Dividing Ridge Road.

So who else got rattled awake by the giant positive lightning strike at 12:51 am?

10:33 pm, Another round of rain/embedded storms about to move in. No severe weather. Just beneficial rain. Sleep well.

Wouldn't surprise me if the winds pick up some as the back edge of the rain passes you from west to east. Let us know if that happens where you are.

The severe thunderstorm watch, originally scheduled to expire at 1:00 am has been canceled 5 hours early.

7:03 pm, the storms have arrived....in a muuuch weaker state than they were over West TN. We'll take the much needed rain. Additional storms are possible through the night, but are not currently expected to be severe. Of course, we'll periodically check on that to be sure. But, hey, free water!

6:23 pm, Hard to give exact ETAs. Generally speaking, over the next hour, everyone will start getting rain. It should gradually get heavier and more steady with lightning and maybe some gusty winds. All non-severe currently.

"Storm tops along this line have come down, and lightning activity is also on the downtrend." - NWS Nashville All signs that the storms are weakening as they approach us. Lightning still a threat, but the chances of experiencing severe weather are dropping.

6:04 pm, The storms appear to be weakening. In fact, they appear to be below severe levels as they're coming in to Middle Tennessee. Not letting our guard down yet, but this is a good sign. Wouldn't be surprised to get some gusty winds on the back side of the rain though.

To elaborate even further, the line of storms is generally weakening, but still plenty of storm fuel out there to keep these things robust. It's April after all, so we don't let our guard down on incoming storms. Hail possible, but odds are you won't see any. (1/2)

Some details on the severe thunderstorm watch just issued. Expires at 1:00 am. A couple of tornadoes not out of the question somewhere in this huge area highlighted in yellow. Scattered hail up to ping-pong ball size possible as well as some scattered gusts to 70 mph.

6:00 - 7:00 pm is the ETA to Nashville for this blob of rain and storms. The blob is currently severe warned for severe winds. Plenty of energy out there to sustain these storms, but that energy may lessen as we lose the sun. Damaging winds, primary threat. Low chance of tornadoes.
