I got unlocked doors, locked doors and keys working tonight. There are 4 types of keys/locks that only work with each other: gold, bronze, iron, and silver. I implemented a very simple inventory system that allows the player to swap between weapons (right now just the sword and the spinny throwing blade I'm calling the Rendspinner). The UI is all pretty placeholder, but I think I at least got it functioning well. #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev #godot

Started experimenting with alternate attacks and came up with this thowing spinny blade thing that bounces around hitting things until you either catch it or magically recall it back to your hands. Not sure if it's gonna stick, but it's kind of fun. #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev #godot #pixelart

To replenish mana, you normally collect mana orbs from slain enemies, but I also wanted to add in an alternative way just in case. Added this little meditate ability. It's slow going and leaves you vulnerable, but it'll work in a pinch. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #godot

Added rolling where you don't take damage. I'm considering if I need to limit rolling with a stamina recharge to prevent the player from spam rolling everywhere, but I'm not sure if it's needed or if that's unfun. What do you think? Got rough height maps working to fake height differences in top down 2D. When on floor 1, projectiles and abilities don't go through the second floor, but on floor 2, they do. It's not much visually, but it's a big step. I can start working with "height" now. #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame #godot

Since I had more than 2 spells implemented (and spells are cast with the right and left mouse buttons) I figured it was time to add in a tab menu to switch between them. In my murder mystery game, there are 16 NPCs. I needed motives for every NPC to want to kill every other NPC for all possible combinations of killer/victim, which results in 240 motives I had to write. I have the data generation working for determining which of the 16 NPCs is the murderer, victim, and associated clues. It's is only visually represented so far by the sprite of the victim NPC changing. Every time you play it's a different murder. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #pixelart #indiegame
