SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING: Through 315pm (215pm MST), Wednesday, Feb 25. A Severe T-storm Warning is in place for Frontier, Perkins, Keith, Lincoln, and Hayes counties until 315pm for 60 mph wind gusts. the storm is moving southeast at 60 mph.

WATCH BEFORE THE WATCH: Feb 25th An area in the southern panhandle into SW Nebraska is being monitored for a potential severe weather watch. The chance for a watch is very small, but one or two storms may get strong to severe in this area this Wednesday afternoon.

A level 1 "Marginal Risk" for severe storms is now in place for the southern panhandle into parts of SW Nebraska. Storms will push through later this afternoon into the early evening. Damaging wind will be the main concern.

Another day in the 50s, but throw in a chance for some scattered afternoon/evening storms.

Let the melting commence. (if you have snow on the ground, that is)

Lancaster and Seward counties have been added to the WINTER STORM WARNING as of 6pm (Thursday, Feb 19th). Heavy snow has fallen and another couple of inches is possible. Travel will be difficult!

A large range of snow totals are expected over a very short distance. For example, Lancaster county may see a trace of snow in the southern part of the county and over 4" in the northern part. Custer county may see 2-8" of snow!

6-8" of snow in the pink Winter Storm Warning area. Snow has started in western Nebraska, is moving into central Nebraska this morning, and will make its way into eastern Nebraska this afternoon. A trace to 4" in the Winter Weather Advisory counties. Blowing snow is likely.

WINTER STORM WARNING and WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Exact timing varies, but overall this starts late tonight and goes through late Thursday into very early Friday. (Feb 18-20, 2026)

Along/south of I-80 will see dry air as the storm system pulls further north, so we'll get maybe 1-2", with less further south, more to the north. Snow starts up in the AM for western Nebraska, into central Nebraska by mid day, then into eastern Nebraska by Thursday afternoon and evening.

Winter Storm Watch: Most of the snow is expected AM Thursday through Thursday afternoon with the heaviest snow north of I-80. Some spots within the 2-4" area may see a little more. Snow won't quite be heavy/wet, so a gusty north wind will create some blowing and drifting.

WATCH BEFORE THE WATCH: As of 545pm, Tuesday, Feb 17th A mesoscale discussion has been issued for eastern Nebraska into Iowa for storms that are forming along a cold front moving into eastern Nebraska. The watch potential is very small, but a couple of strong storms are certainly possible!

Valentine's Day will see some rain early, then that moves out and the rest of the weekend will be very mild!

Friday will be a great day for golf! Saturday might be ok, if you can wait for the light rain to pass. Still can't believe this is February.

RECORD HIGHS! Feb 5, 2026 A bunch of towns and cities in Nebraska have brand new record highs for February 5th!

Not sure which is harder to believe. That it's going to be so warm or that Valentine's Day is only 10 days away!

For Wednesday, Feb 4th: Some light snow showers are possible on and off on Wednesday. This isn't expected to amount to much and some drizzle/freezing drizzle may mix in. Untreated surfaces may get a little slick in spots but it shouldn't be widespread.

Light snow possible Tuesday. Near normal temperatures to the east, much warmer west.

Snow moves from west to east Saturday. Will be in eastern Nebraska by late afternoon into the evening. Not a lot of snow with this one.

Teens for highs on Friday, but the wind chill will have a bite to it. Brrrr!

The Extreme Cold Watch has expanded and now includes north central and northeast Nebraska. Wind chills may drop to 30 below zero in the watch area late Thursday into Friday. Hypothermia and frost bite can happen very quickly in conditions like this.

Not looking forward to Thursday night through Sunday in Lincoln. Hope we get some moisture, though!

A Snow Squall Warning is in place for Brown, Rock, and Keya Paha counties through noon today. Heavy snow and gusty winds in excess of 35 mph are likely in this area. Visibility will be quickly reduced making travel difficult to impossible. The storm is moving southeast at 30 mph.

WATCHES, WARNINGS, AND ADVISORIES: Sunday, Jan 18th. A Wind Advisory is in place for much of eastern Nebraska. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for the O'Neill and Sioux City area. And a High Wind Warning is in place for parts of the panhandle.

A Snow Squall Warning is in place for Lancaster, Otoe, and Cass counties through 930pm. This includes the city of Lincoln. Intense bursts of snow and high wind will lead to quick whiteout conditions and dangerous travel conditions. This storm is moving southeast at 35 mph.

Snow squalls are possible for much of the state Fri into early Sat, with an area through central Neb that is more likely to see them. Snow squalls are intense bursts of snow/wind that are short in duration. They create whiteouts and rapidly deteriorate road conditions.

ROAD CONDITIONS, 10:15am, Friday, Jan 16, 2026 Some spots across Nebraska are seeing snow, blowing snow, low visibility, and slick roads. As expected, it's hit and miss, so if you have to travel, be ready for quick bursts of snow and a LOT of wind!

BLOWING SNOW: Friday, 730am, Jan 16th Light snow is falling across parts of the state this Friday morning. With wind gusts out of the northwest at 30 to 60 mph today, this snow will likely be blowing sideways at times. Low visibilities and slick roads are possible through Friday.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Though Friday, 6pm, Jan 16th A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for parts of northern Nebraska through Friday evening. Wind gusts nearing 65 mph and around an inch of snow will create very difficult travel conditions.

Not a lot of snow is expected Friday, but what snow we get late morning through the afternoon will be blowing sideways. Visibility drops to zero quickly with all this wind and snow showers pushing through. The wind will be out of the northwest at 20-40 mph, gusting up to 60mph.

Breezy but mild for Thursday. Could be worse, I guess!
