I’m going to have a mini self-made writers retreat this weekend for my bday and I’m so excited I have no idea what to work on!! All the projects!!!

I have a silly amount of hope for the manuscript I have on sub right now. I say silly because I understand this is a hard industry and getting your hopes up is silly. But I’ve worked hard, practiced the craft, and continue to learn &practice. Is it so silly to hope all the hard work pays off?

Sometimes, we agonize over what we write and revise and revise and sometimes we forget about a contest until the last minute and we just write for fun. This was my last minute entry in the Susanna Hill winter holiday writing contest. Theme was countdown.

Sometimes query tracker is a terrible for morale - you can see from comments they replied to stories submitted after yours! Now you get to wonder if that was bc they are thinking about you or if they’ve forgotten about you. Wheee

I am having trouble writing descriptions that don’t sound stale or banal. (As I attempt my YA manuscript). Probably from years of writing PBs with absolutely no descriptions. Any resources or writing exercises you know of to help with this?
