I had the pleasure of visiting Avocet in Holmes Chapel a few weeks ago, and yesterday I was proud to mention them in Parliament. With such competitive international markets, I asked the Defence Secretary what steps they are taking to support British manufacturing businesses such as Avocet.

In March, I spoke in the Commons about how difficult it can be for victims of abuse when having to pay a fee to have their details withheld from the insolvency register. For people who often escape abuse with little more than the clothes on their back, survivors can face a heavy financial burden.

It was a pleasure to take part in the last NFU Food and Farming Fellowship scheme visit. It’s been a great experience to see so much of the farming industry this past year. Last Friday, we visited FareShare in Liverpool to see how surplus food from farming gets used to help vulnerable people.

I had a lovely visit to the year 8 pupils at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School earlier this week, where I got the chance to talk during their personal development module on politics! They asked so many insightful questions about what life is like as an MP. What a fab way to start off the week!😊

Giving women and girls the opportunities to thrive in STEM careers is vital🔭 Ada Lovelace Day celebrates the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and maths.

Earlier this week I attended an event on Women in STEM where I met representatives from organisations such as STEMAZING - a non-profit which aims to amplify the voices of women in STEM across the country 🔭 👩‍💻 📐

It's World Mental Health Day. Now is a better time than any to remind ourselves how vital it is to, first and foremost, look after ourselves. But it's not just about today, there are resources available year-round to support yourself and others with mental health and wellbeing.

Parents of SEND children having somewhere they can meet and chat is really important, so they can share their own challenges and solutions. I was so glad to meet with some of these parents. I'm dedicated to working hard for the best SEND provision possible for parents, carers, and children.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Daneside Theatre, who are now the third organisation in the constituency to benefit from solar panels thanks to Dane Valley Community Energy. They've seen a 15% reduction in energy bills so far!

I had the chance to talk to Cancer Research UK whilst at conference. Over 7,000 people are diagnosed each year with Ovarian Cancer, and I had the chance to hear about a lot about the work that they are doing on a vaccine.

I had a lovely visit yesterday morning to Diamond Electronics, another of our constituency's excellent family businesses. It was great meeting Darren, Damien, Charlotte, and the rest of the staff there as they told me about the company's history. 💡 🏭

Even prior to my election last year, I have been all too familiar with the challenges faced locally when it comes to transport. I see it when travelling through my own constituency, and in the emails coming through my office each week.

Today is 999 Day, honouring the 2 million people who serve across the NHS and emergency services. The role of first responders and volunteers is immense, with over 250,000 of them helping our emergency services operate. A huge thank you to every person dedicating their lives to this.

A sunny visit to Holmes Chapel Zoo last weekend, where I signed up to be a member of the Cheshire Wildlife Trust. Protecting local wildlife is vital in the constituency, and I'm proud to support the organisation putting so much work into doing so. And a stop for ice cream on the way out!

Just before we finished for recess, I visited a drop in run by Fertility Action. Equal access to fertility treatment is so important, but unfortunately not the reality. They're running a new campaign called Fertility Access UK, which I was glad to speak with them about.

It’s fantastic to see so many young people in Congleton taking part in the @DofE Award. 572,000 young people took part in a DofE Award last year, a record breaking figure. Starting a DofE Award allows young people to discover new passions, learn vital skills and give back to their local community.

I've had a busy few months, and a busy first year as your local MP. Parliament is now in recess for the Summer, but we're still here to help. Here's what I got up to in July!

🚨 Late payments are one of the biggest barriers to small business growth, forcing hardworking businesses to close their doors. This costs the economy £11bn a year. When I was self-employed, I found it harder to get bills paid by corporates than I did my individual clients. I welcome this change.
