It was a real pleasure to attend the 230 (Congleton) Squadron RAF Air Cadets Annual Dining Night in Cranage. It was inspiring to see the dedication of so many volunteers, and to see so many cadets achieving great things and making a positive contribution to the community.

Last month, I attended a Police & Crime Commissioner’s Citizen Assembly event at Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre. One of the topics raised was the concern around e‑bikes in Sandbach, with many residents sharing their experiences and views.

I have written to the Chief Executive of Cheshire East Council and the Interim Assistant Chief Executive about bin collections. I have also spoken to the leader of Cheshire East.

The government is making new laws for: ✅ Easier and cheaper lease extensions ✅ Greater transparency on service charges ✅ Stronger rights to challenge unfair fees ✅ A move away from leasehold contracts It was lovely to hear the the Minister recognise my continued work and local involvement.

The Labour Government has capped interest rates on Plan 2 and Plan 3 student loans at 6% from September 2026 to August 2027, providing reassurance and protection for graduates.

I am holding a coffee afternoon in Holmes Chapel on Friday 24th April 2026. This session will be to outline and discuss the Government’s proposed SEND reforms. It will help me prepare a constituency response to the proposed reforms. RSVP vital to attend.

I met with the Farming Minister and discussed heating oil and red diesel costs, and the next round of the Sustainable Farming Initiative. I also suggested the Competition and Markets Authority should investigate the price of tractors – an issue that local farmers have raised to me.

I met with the Secretary of State for Transport, Heidi Alexander MP, along with Sarah Smith MP and Maya Ellis MP to discuss family friendly trains.

I have joined with colleagues in writing to Ofcom, urging the Chief Executive to recognise that there are specific harms that disproportionately affect boys and men online, and to take action to reduce these.

Labour’s Animal Welfare strategy outlines the most ambitious reforms to animal welfare in a generation and will improve the lives of millions of animals across the UK. Labour had a manifesto commitment to ban trail hunting and we are now consulting on how best to take that forward.

It was great to host the launch of ‘Anatomy of Success – Digitising the NHS by 2035’, a report by thinktank The Fabian Society. I chaired a discussion with report author Saskia Otto, leading public sector tech provider HCL, and Alex McIntyre MP, on what it will take to truly modernise the NHS.

I had the pleasure of attending the launch of constituent Georgina Durrant’s new book – ‘SEND Strategies for the Secondary Years’. It was great to support her in this launch, and she has been very helpful in informing my work on improving SEND provisions and awareness in Parliament.

I was grateful that the Solicitor General acknowledged my advocacy on tackling this national issue in her response. I look forward to discussing our commitments to fast-track rape cases and introduce specialist courts and encouraging the government to go further and faster in these areas.

I’ve chased down invoices that were overdue for payment by big companies who abused their size to dictate their terms, and then didn’t even pay up in time. The Government is introducing the toughest laws of late payments in the G7. This will help SMEs to get paid on time and protect their cash flow.

I recently had a meeting with Rebecca Morris, founder of Protect Young Drivers, about what I can do to help their campaign. I have also previously contacted Google Maps about the introduction of ‘safest routes’ and will continue to advocate for tools for people to use to encourage safe driving.

It was an honour to be invited to formally open ‘The Lodge’, a new school in Sandbach for children with medical needs and mental health challenges. I can’t wait to see how this new school grows and its future successes.
