I know it is heresy, but I find Mark Rylance in Wolf Hall so very remote from my conception of Hilary Mantel’s Cromwell as to be increasingly unwatchable. A spur though to reread The Mirror and the Light instead.

Bangs head on desk. Having warned readers at about p. 100 to beware double use of notation (“but context always disambiguates”), then spend two hours thoroughly confusing myself with the same notation when revising p. 300. Damn. Nothing for it but revising some heavily used notation. Hey ho!

This has got me thinking. The ‘echo chamber’ criticism assumes that social media is only about politics. But it’s also about literature, art, science, nature, ecology etc and we’re all learning from each other here all the time (if we engage that way).
