We are still looking at the potential for a widespread damaging winds treat tonight and into the overnight with a line of storms moving through that could produce gusts up to 70mph and a small risk of embedded tornadoes.

Tomorrow evening into the overnight presents an Enhanced (3 on scale of 0-5) risk of severe weather, with significant wind damages and a few tornados possible. Winds all day before the storms will be tough too with gusts of 40mph possible.

Storm in Tennessee City could be dropping some minor small hail.

Some small hail could be starting to fall with this line of storms moving through as well.

Line of strong, not yet severe storms will be marching through over the next 90 minutes. The main risk is strong winds, heavy downpours and lightning. We are watching this line for any signs of intensification.

We have a slight (2 on a 0-5 scale) risk of severe weather today as a line of storms marches through now until midnight. Damaging winds main threat but can’t rule out a tornado or two. We have an 80% chance of a Tornado Watch being issued soon for us ahead of the storms.

Wind gusts could cause additional tree branches to fall today and cause additional power outages. Be careful being near trees today. Roads are super slick as we are in a deep freeze. Monday can’t come soon enough with tens rising above freezing. Rain comes Tuesday to help.

Welp, since I just experienced one, let’s discuss frost quakes. They sound like loud “booms” but it’s water rapidly freezing and expanding causing pressure underground.

I’m not sure how much more accurate NWSNashville could have gotten with their forecast. Here are actual ice report accumulations and their last forecasted amount expectations.

We know that a majority of you are still without power. I can promise you the electric company knows you don’t have power. We don’t know, and neither do they, when your power will return. If you have an emergency, call 911. If you have an urgent need, contact EMA or Sherrifs.

Finally was able to get an outage map to load for Dickson Electric. This is 12:20am Monday.

The next weather focus now is the gusty winds expected overnight and tomorrow and the flash freeze temps tonight. It’s gonna be a cold week. The only good news I have is that the sun will come out tomorrow… literally. Cloud cover should be dissipating by day break.

This has been a catastrophic event. Please know that all of the first responders are working as fast as they can to do all they can to restore power, clear roads, handle emergencies. Give them the time, space, and respect they deserve in this cold to do the hard work.

While the temperature is still a very cold 19 degrees, I’ve noticed our temp has ticked up a bit on the official @HickmanSevereWx weather station. This is expected to continue to rise through the night to close to freezing with more freezing rain expected to move in overnight.

Just wanted to clarify the difference between freezing rain and rain: Freezing rain: rain that falls and freezes on surface. Air temp below 32 degrees. Rain: rain that falls and stays liquid on the surface. Air temp above 32 degrees.

Starting to get some sleet where I am in Bon Aqua. Here’s a screenshot of current temps from the @HickmanSevereWx official weather station. Sleet shows that we have a slim pocket of warm air above. We expect that pocket to increase to transition sleet to freezing rain.

Snow has arrived but is expected to transition into that ugly sleet/freezing rain/rain mix after lunch today.

Alrighty y'all. I haven't been able to post much due to appointments and my own storm prep but wanted to give you all a late rundown of what we are seeing. Our snow probabilities of seeing large snow amounts have decreased, while our ice probabilities have increased.

Our ice threat has been increasing over the last 48 hours. NWS has us somewhat in/close to the area to see the greatest ice potential.

Models have been trending further northward, increasing our chances for sleet and freezing rain accumulations and reducing our snow depth probabilities. You should start prepping for the likelihood of ice and power outages.

New: Winter Storm Watch starting Friday 6pm and ending Sunday 6pm.

Models are still all over the place, but trying to be more in agreement. New graphic with chances of 3 inches or more this weekend puts us around 40-50%. This is definitely subject to change up or down so don’t take this as definitive.

Ah, yes, the s word is being mentioned I see. We all know how this works in the south. We don’t know much until we are almost at the event. Confidence has increased a touch that we could see the white stuff this weekend. But it’s too far out to know for sure.

I think the weather is getting just a bit ahead of itself as winter doesn’t start until December 21st.

The rain/sleet/snow line is upon us which could lead to some travel issues over the next several hours.

New: Winter Weather Advisory for Dickson County from 9pm tonight December 1 to 8am December 2. A wintery mix of precipitation is expected and could accumulate overnight. Slick roads are likely possible.
