My team was able to go to a PFT strike prep this week, to help out the teachers in our community. Teachers deserve a fair contract! Teachers deserve good benefits and sick leave. Teachers deserve pay that reflects how much they do for the children and how much they mean to the community!

Last week I was honored to be a part of a ROPA panel discussion. The event was attended by musicians from all across the country. As Evan from the AFL-CIO said, "food grows best when your shadows on the soil".

We have a new mural in our district - a work of art celebrating William Still and his family for their instrumental role in Philadelphia's history of the Underground Railroad. We presented the artist, Ernel Martinez, with a citation from our office for the creation of the beautiful work of art.

My team had a great time at South Street's National Night Out this past weekend!

Earlier this week, my team was able to tour @Philabundance and help out with food production. They prepared over 300 meals for Philabundance's LunchBox program, and got to learn about the facilities, and their education program.

Our team visited the ribbon cutting for the newly reopened Kate’s Place by @projecthome.bsky.social — now PA’s largest supportive housing site. 144 upgraded units + onsite support = real progress in ending homelessness. Proud to support this vital work. 🏠💙

Last week we were honored to present an official citation to Ms. Dennis who turned 96, she has been in Philly most of her life and continues to spread her smile and wisdom to those around her. Yuri also received a citation for his incredible work as a Community & Support Services Coordinator.

On this Workers’ Memorial Day, we remember and honor workers who were either injured, disabled or killed in their line of work. Additionally, today also reminds us of the need to create safe working environments for all.

The Philadelphia Water Department has requested a water rate increase of $222 million over the next two years, which will increase rates for Philadelphia families. This evening and tomorrow there are public hearings hosted by the Rate Board. You can stop by to make your voice heard.

Yesterday, I got the opportunity to meet the staff at WORC, tour their building, and meet with some of their clients who have thrived from the support that WORC offers. WORC offers loans, investment products, and other services to low-income and underserved populations in Philadelphia.

Met with Kevin and Khalil yesterday from Ready Willing & Able to tour their facility. Their program relies on federal block grants which are now under threat by the current administration. The transitional housing and structured program they provide for the men in recovery is essential.

April is Autism Acceptance Month, a time to promote the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with autism. Additionally, it is important that we embrace individuals with autism and also stand for their rights!
