Well - that was boring. Fedora upgrade was boring. Where are the days we're you'd do an upgrade then recompile the kernel to get sound or your Orinico Gold Wireless card was being flaky and you couldn't get on the internet and you spent half the day screaming.

Is today the day I upgrade from Fedora 42 to 43.....or wait.

I am reminded this PostGIS day that not speaking can be a blessing for all within ear shot.

Welcome to the biggest GIS Marketing day ever - #gisday - where we try for the 40th year in a row to tell people why what we do is important and have those same people go "just drawing on a computer". Then everyone drinks afterwards.

"Cloudflare is experiencing an outage". Call me weird but maybe this cloud thing is a bit overrated.

....and I'm one map away from done and cloudflare goes down. Which only makes me want to ask why a calendar printer needs cloudflare.

The city has rebranded it's logo to make everything look consistent. My new City tax bill looks exactly like my City sewer bill.

Today was going to be "work" and then it turned into cleaning my desk off which is also "work".

All I am left with now is setting up the backpage and then trying to figure out what the cost is for the Calendar. I think I'm finally ahead of the game for once this year.

As I piece together the Geohipster 2026 Calendar - this has been the only time I've had to stop and listen to Dance Music from 1991 from a band I had no clue existed just to make sure this happened. It did. #geohipster

After 2 hours of screaming - I have windows 11 up and running in a VM on my "server" in the office.

Client bought a server. Linux. Ubuntu in particular. In 2023 I updated it from 18.04 to 20.04. I promptly forgot about it since it's not under my contract to be the IT person. Figured out today 20.04 is now unsupported. I decided if it ain't broke let someone else discover the problem. #linux #geo

Spent 4 hours yesterday trying to convince a client to not delete an important data layer they needed. They only thing that stopped them was he wasn't familiar enough with PostGIS to do it. Two hours into it I almost decided to just let him go at it.....but I'd have to fix it.

After speaking twice at the Georgia Geospatial Conference last week - burnout. I really wonder if all this traveling to conferences and talking and whatnot is worth the headache anymore. Of course it is advertising...but it's getting to be more exhausting each year.
