Avatar is a lot like a video game. And that doesn’t have to be necessarily disparaging. Watch it at its best (IMAX 3D) and it is stunning to watch on a technical level. It knows how to pull basic levers and earns some emotional moments. But using this metaphor, the new one is just a DLC expansion.

Legends Z-A has a Like a Dragon esque structure and gameplay loop (and was 100% on their inspiration board when designing the game) but imagine if it leant in to that further with things like pokeball bowling, cooking mini games using pokemon! An arcade with games from the Pokemon mini even!

Pokemon Z-A feels like it has snuck in some Yakuza DNA in to the mix. Like a Dragon(ite). Fun so far but they should definitely have taken a few more cues from RGG about making city blocks feel more lived in whilst they were at it!
